GRAHAM, NC -- Pro-immigration enforcement protesters outnumbered
illegal aliens and their supporters by over three to one, during the
dueling protests in Alamance County on April 8, 2009.
The national organization, ALIPAC, joined forces with the state
groups of NC Voice, NC FIRE, and NC Listen to quickly arrange a counter
protest, after the pro-Amnesty group "Witnesses for Peace" announced a
march against Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson for his use of the
popular 287(g) program, which helps local police determine the
immigration status of those they arrest for crimes.
"People came from across the state, but the
people in Alamance County were very active because of the death of Mr.
Barber on Sunday," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "The polls tell us
that American citizens favor the 287(g) program 4 to 1 and our superior
numbers on Wednesday reflect that trend."
On Sunday, April 5, 2009, another innocent North Carolinian,
William Bryan Barber, 43 was killed by an illegal alien in front of his
son who was severely injured in the crash caused by Lidia Monica Lopez,
41. Lopez is an illegal alien, with no drivers license, who has been
deported before and was leaving a meeting at a Catholic Church. It is
rumored that Lopez dealt a fatal blow to Barber with her car as she
attempted to flee the scene of the crash.
"The 287(g) program saves lives and property from illegal aliens
involved in broader criminal conduct," said William Gheen. "That is why
the illegal alien supporters had so few people at their protest and we
had so many on our side."
Sheriff Terry Johnson is taking heat from illegal alien supporters
in North Carolina just like Sheriff Joe Arpio is in Arizona. The Obama
administration is trying to paralyze the 287(g) program, as part of his
Amnesty agenda, while "community groups" attack police agencies on the
local level.
Witness for Peace demonstrators lied to the Graham police
department about their protest plans and seven were arrested for
disorderly conduct outside the Alamance County Jail.
"It just goes to show that neither the illegal aliens nor their
supporters like Witnesses For Peace care about obeying the laws that
make America such a great place to live," said William Gheen. "The
illegals and their supporters have no respect for our laws or police
and they were heavily out matched in Alamance County yesterday. We are
encouraging Americans who want local police to enforce immigration laws
to organize and stand up to these anarchists nationwide!"
Americans for Legal Immigration PAC would like to thank all of the
people who helped to make the April 7 events in Graham a big victory
for the pro-enforcement side of the immigration debates. For more
