MD - Feds Raid Timbuktu Restaurant In Hanover

immigration and customs enforcementImmigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has just completed a raid at Timbuktu Restaurant at 1726 Dorsey Road in Hanover. Anne Arundel police supplied 18 officers to assist federal authorities in executing warrants at the restaurant and at several other residential locations around the County. From a source close to the investigation, the restaurant was hiring undocumented illegal aliens and providing them safe harbor.

ICE auditing local businesses

immigration and customs enforcementU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will be inspecting 180 businesses throughout the Southeast over the next several days as they seek to crack down on illegal employment.

ICE began issuing notices of inspection March 2 to businesses in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee.

2 Miami women charged with running vast student visa fraud ring

immigration and customs enforcementU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have arrested two women in Miami and charged them with operating a major student visa fraud ring through which they tricked the federal government into granting more than 200 student visas to foreign nationals who were not students, agency officials and the U.S. attorney in Miami announced Thursday.

Jeffrey H. Sloman, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and Anthony V. Mangione, special agent in charge, ICE Office of Investigations, Miami Field Office, described the scheme at a news conference.

59 illegal immigrants arrested in Houston

The three-day enforcement surge targeted immigrants, both legal and undocumented, who failed to comply with an immigration judge's order to leave the county or who had committed crimes that made them deportable, officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials described the fine as a significant penalty that is justified by the myriad problems the agency found when it examined the company's hiring policies. Police and federal agents arrested 161 illegal immigrants during the August 2007 raid.
