NY - Syracuse protesters assail immigration proposals Tuesday, November 17 @ 10:03:22 EST by Dixie (167 reads) | Demonstraters held signs and flags and played
music Saturday in front of the James Hanley Federal Building in
Syracuse to voice their opposition to legislation that would grant
amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Angela McConville of Baldwinsville, who organized the protest,
equated amnesty to cutting in line, which, she said, is not fair to
those immigrants who want to come to the U.S. legally.
“They should go through the process,” McConville said.

Idaho: Legistation to identify illegal workers needed Tuesday, November 17 @ 09:33:47 EST by Dixie (153 reads) | North Idaho
Sen. Mike Jorgenson, who wants state employers to check worker
immigration status, said Saturday high unemployment and state budget
woes may finally overcome farm and business opposition to such a
requirement.
Jorgenson-authored immigration legislation has failed to get a hearing the last two sessions. But with more than 66,000 in Idaho
jobless, and a $50 million budget gap, a hearing would unleash popular
support for measures that discourage the hiring of illegal immigrants,
he said.
“We can’t afford to take care of ourselves,” Jorgenson told a
receptive audience of about 60 gathered for one of 53 Tea Parties
Against Amnesty & Illegal Immigration held around the United
States, including others in Boise and Idaho Falls.

designed to help people understand that amnesty legislation for illegal
immigrants could be filed in the next year, local organizer Jane
Patterson said.
"You, and only you, can stop this amnesty with your voice and your
vote," Patterson told a crowd of 34 people, encouraging them to contact
their state legislators and U.S. congressional representatives to voice
their opposition to any amnesty legislation. U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez,
D-Ill., may file a bill soon that would overhaul immigration laws and

The Obama team can’t seem to get past the campaign trail. IL Area residents fed up with illegal immigration take it to the street Monday, November 16 @ 16:13:42 EST by Dixie (166 reads) | DECATUR
- There was no tea but plenty of cold water Sunday afternoon as TEA
Party protesters braved a steady rain to march silently through
downtown Decatur to protest illegal immigration.
The event was organized by Restore Our Constitution, which calls itself the "Decatur TEA Party Group, with TEA standing for "Taxed Enough Already."
Members say the TEA Party is a grass-roots movement composed of people
who want low taxes, limited government and those in government to
follow the Constitution. The group says one of the few things the
Constitution does empower the national government to do is to protect
the nation's borders, and it claims that is not being done effectively,
leading to a flood of illegal immigrants.
