Chevy Chase Bank Employee Resigns Because Bank Aids Illegal Immigrants! Monday, February 16 @ 07:11:30 EST by admin (2730 reads) | Employee acts to take America back, resigns to stop helping illegals in U.S.
A personal banker in Arlington, Va., is quitting
his job after Chevy Chase Bank, one of the largest and best-known banks
in the Washington, D.C., region, announced it will begin accepting
consular cards from customers who many suspect are illegal aliens.
The bank announced its "Hispanic Banking Initiative" during a pilot
program and is now accepting Matricula Consular de Alta Seguridads, or
MCAS, at all of its branches so customers without U.S. government IDs
may open accounts.

Bank of America's fourth-quarter profit falls on credit losses
By IEVA M. AUGSTUMS, AP Business Writer 23 minutes ago
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bank of America Corp. said Tuesday its fourth-quarter
earnings fell 95 percent, hurt by mounting credit losses and weak
investment banking results.
Net income at the Charlotte-based bank dropped to $268 million, or
5 cents per share, in the three months ended Dec. 31 from $5.26
billion, or $1.16 per share, a year ago.
The bank's revenue fell 32 percent to $12.67 billion from $18.49 billion last year.
The quarter included results from LaSalle Bank, which Bank of America purchased on Oct. 1.
Analysts expected earnings of 18 cents per share on revenue of
$13.24 billion, according to a poll by Thomson Financial. The earnings
estimates typically exclude one-time items.
In premarket trading, Bank of America shares were down $1.92 at $34.05.
Crosstown rival Wachovia said its fourth-quarter earnings tumbled
to $51 million, or 3 cents per share, from $2.3 billion, or $1.20 per
share, during the same period the previous year.
Excluding merger-related expenses, Wachovia earned $160 million, or 8 cents per share, during the fourth quarter.

Seven months after a historic and sustained boycott of Bank of America
was launched by over 100 organizations fighting against illegal
immigration, BofA profits are diving 32%, the bank is laying off 3,000
workers, and shaking up management.
"Bank of America disgraced themselves nationally this year when the
news broke they were going to give credit cards to illegal aliens,"
says William Gheen of ALIPAC. "CEO Ken Lewis refused to apologize or
cancel the program despite massive public backlash so we launched the
boycott and tens of thousands of Americans, perhaps more, have canceled
their Bank of America credit cards and moved their mortgages
elsewhere."
Bank of America reports heavy losses in their credit card division
after many Americans cut their cards up and mailed them back to Bofa.

Bank of America said late Wednesday that it is
cutting roughly 3,000 jobs and launching a strategic review of its
investment banking business after recent poor performance from the
unit.
Gene Taylor, head of Global Corporate and Investment Banking, will
retire at the end of this year and be replaced by Brian Moynihan, who
currently runs the company's Global Wealth and Investment Management
business.
Bank of America shares fell 0.4%, to $47.29.
Most of the job cuts will be from Bank of America's (BAC:
bank of america corporation com
BAC 47.00, -0.48, -1.0%) investment banking unit, it said. Those
reductions represent less than 2% of the company's staff. Business
Lending, Treasury Services and Capital Markets and Advisory Services,
as well as supporting infrastructure, will be affected, the bank said.
Bank of America reported a 31% drop in third-quarter profit last
week as trading losses and a hit from loans backing leveraged buyouts
nearly wiped out the company's investment-banking income. See full
story.
After that hit, Chief Executive Ken Lewis said the bank would
probably cut back, adding, "I've had all the fun I can stand in
investment banking at the moment.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bank
of America Corp.'s plunging profits shocked Wall Street Thursday and
prompted a clearly frustrated chief executive Kenneth Lewis to say that
changes loom in its investment banking business.
"I've had all of the fun I can stand in investment banking at the moment," said Lewis, who heads up the nation's second largest bank. "So to get bigger in it is not something I really want to do."
As the last of the nation's top three banks to report results this week, Bank
of America's news suggests that the problems in the credit market may
yet be closer to the beginning than an end. But while Lewis blamed some
of his bank's problems on those market conditions, he admitted his traders also made plenty of mistakes.
"What I can't say is that we'll stay the course," Lewis said on a call
with analysts, after his company posted a 32 percent profit drop in the
third quarter. "The probability of changes and eliminations of some
businesses and infrastructure ... is very high."
Bank of America's shares fell $1.18 to $48.85 Thursday, after the Charlotte-based bank said net income declined to $3.7 billion, or 82 cents per share from $5.42 billion, or $1.18 per share, a year ago. The bank's revenue fell 12 percent to $16.3 billion.
Analysts expected earnings of $1.06 per share on revenue of $18.3
billion, according to a poll by Thomson Financial. The earnings
estimates typically exclude one-time items.
The very idea of a retrenchment is anathema at Bank
of America, a growth obsessed company built first under previous chief
executive Hugh McColl Jr., and since 2001 under Lewis, into a retail
banking behemoth.

Bank of America Corp, the second-largest U.S. bank,
posted a much larger-than-expected 32 percent drop in quarterly profit
on Thursday, hurt by mounting credit losses and dismal investment
banking results.
The news, the latest in a series of disappointing bank results, dampened confidence about the health of the U.S. consumer and the economy.
Stocks fell, bond prices rose, and the dollar tumbled to a record low
against the euro. Expectations rose that the Federal Reserve will cut
interest rates this month.
"We knew the credit situation was going to be bad, but this was worse
than expected," said Michael Mullaney, who helps invest $10 billion at
Fiduciary Trust Co. in Boston and owns the bank's shares.
"What causes us concern is the increase in reserves doesn't appear aggressive, and the bank
may need to reserve more in the future, which hits earnings," he said.
"The real surprise was investment banking, where revenue plunged."

Federal Reserve Bank Assisting Illegal Aliens! Tuesday, August 07 @ 10:53:47 EDT by admin (3135 reads) | The Federal Reserve Bank is working with the
Mexican government to make it easier for illegal aliens to export US
money to their homeland.
The Fed is currently devising several programs that will extend
banking services to illegal aliens, according to The Wall Street
Journal. Most of this money transfer scheme is being created under the
radar and few, if any, political figures are discussing the subject.
One proposal is for a new remittance program with the ultimate goal
of bringing illegal Mexican aliens -- who send money home -- into the
mainstream the US financial system, regardless of immigration status.
In other words, The Federal Reserve Bank is attempting to aid
lawbreakers in moving their cash around in the US and Mexico.

N.C. county spurns BoA for offering credit to illegals Friday, April 27 @ 16:09:16 EDT by admin (3041 reads) | GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - Gaston County commissioners spurned Bank of America on Thursday and awarded a contract to Wachovia Corp. because Bank of America offers a credit card that can be used by illegal immigrants.
The deal, which will cost the county about $120,000 in interest over four years, was approved by the board - all Republicans - without discussion.
County officials said the cost would be offset by savings from trips to the bank, noting that the nearest Wachovia branch is closer to the county administration building than the nearest Bank of America branch.
"If we put a dollar value to staff time, there is not a difference," said County Manager Jan Winters.
The county would have an average daily balance of about $10 million.

Some Gaston County commissioners say they don’t want county government
doing business with Bank of America because they believe a credit card
marketing strategy favors illegal aliens.
A spokeswoman with the Charlotte-based banking giant said commissioners are making an uninformed decision.
On Thursday, commissioners failed to approve a staff recommendation to
give an account to Bank of America because of a pilot program that
allows those only in the Los Angeles area to obtain secured credit
without having a Social Security number.
“From what I’m hearing it’s not going to be Bank of America,” said
Commissioner Tom Keigher. “It’s going to be anyone but (Bank of
America).”
For Gaston County and the bank the decision has financial ramifications.
The county had an average daily cash balance of $10 million in that
account in the past year, said county Finance Officer Bill Bradley. The
next best bid to Bank of America could cost the county about $31,000
more per year, Bradley said.
Critics of the bank’s policy, which include U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick of
Charlotte, say the pilot program allows undocumented workers to obtain
credit. Myrick recently took her personal accounts to Wachovia in
protest.

Immigration Debate Heats Up Tax Time Friday, April 13 @ 13:33:37 EDT by admin (3231 reads) | Carlos Diaz broke the law when he crossed the border and took a job as an office janitor. But he's not about to break another by failing to pay his income tax.
"I've been talking to other people who've done it, and I want to follow the law," said Diaz, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala who squirmed in his seat at a neighborhood tax preparer's office.
Tuesday is Tax Day, when millions of illegal immigrants find themselves collaborating with one federal agency - the Internal Revenue Service - while trying to avoid another - Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
They hope a track record of on-time payments will aid their citizenship applications, but critics who favor tougher enforcement of federal immigration rules say it's absurd for the government to work with people it should be tracking down and deporting. It legitimizes the presence of immigrants who are here illegally, critics say, and sends a mixed message about the country's interest in enforcing its own rules.

Illegal Aliens Apprehended Carrying Bank of America Credit Cards! Thursday, April 05 @ 00:06:39 EDT by admin (9289 reads) | Illegal immigrant suspects had records. Two of 9 caught at hotel are fugitives, Morganelli says.
EASTON | Two of the nine suspected illegal immigrants detained Monday when they arrived for work at Hotel Bethlehem had criminal records, District Attorney John Morganelli said Tuesday.
Morganelli said Flor Rocha, of Falls Church, Va., was wanted in California for a dangerous drugs charge, but officials wouldn't extradite him back to California. Juan Carlos Hinjosa, of Springfield, Va., was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials after he was arrested in February 2005.
The illegal immigrants -- seven from Bolivia, one from El Salvador and one from Guatemala -- were working for a subcontractor putting up drywall at the hotel. Morganelli received a complaint that led to the investigation and apprehension of the nine men.
Morganelli said the subcontractor was a Virginia-based company which claims the men were individual contractors.

Bank of America: Wrong Shade Of Green Saturday, March 17 @ 12:53:11 EDT by JimP (1886 reads) | Bank of America: Wrong Shade Of Green
Alec Dubro
March 15, 2007
Sometime in 2008 , Bank of America, the country’s largest commercial
bank, will open the doors of its new 52-floor, 2 million-square-foot
office building in Midtown Manhattan. No ordinary 945 foot-tall,
1billion-dollar hulk, the Bank of America Tower will be as green as it
can be.
According to the bank, “The project incorporates innovative,
high-performance technologies to use dramatically less energy, consume
less potable water and provide a healthy and productive indoor
environment that prioritizes natural light and fresh air.”
Douglas Durst, of the site-developing Durst Organization, put it in
stronger terms. “We look forwar to creating not just a spectacular
visual experience, but also the most environmentally responsible
building possible."
Imagine that! A billion dollars of cutting-edge environmental
responsibility. I can suggest, however, a project that uses even less
energy, water and air: a vacant lot. New York would make out better,
the air will be that much cleaner and the country will benefit from one
Bank of America project fewer. Bank of America shows us how green
technology, in and of itself, is no answer to environmental woes.
What’s wrong with advancing tall building technology?
What's wrong is to what use the technology is put. And what it costs. And who profits. In this case, it couldn’t be more wrong.

BLUFFTON -- José Mena, a Bluffton resident originally from El Salvador,
sat in his taxi outside the Bluffton Bank of America on Friday
afternoon while his fare, a Hispanic woman, went inside to open a bank
account.
Mena, who's lived in the area for six years, has an account with BB&T and a credit card with Bank of America.
Meanwhile, Claudia Arias Mora and her husband, David Bautista, both
construction workers from Mexico, headed into the bank to open a
checking account for Arias Mora.
They chose the bank because she could open an account with only a tax
identification number and one other form of identification.
"I need an account because we often get paid by checks and without
an account, it's difficult and expensive to cash them," Arias Mora
said.

Bank of America boycott hits home Thursday, March 15 @ 16:32:45 EDT by admin (2244 reads) | Bank of America continues to come under fire following its implementation last month of a pilot program critics say allows illegal aliens to obtain credit cards, a policy that has led at least one local business to sever its ties with the financial institution.
Kenneth W. Davis, owner of Great Western Drilling Company, told the Reporter-Telegram in a phone conversation from his Fort Worth office his company, which maintains offices in Midland and seven other cities, no longer will do business with Bank of America.
Davis' objection is based on a pilot program the company began in Los Angeles County, Calif. last month that permits customers who have had a checking account in good standing for three months to receive a credit card with a tax identification number in lieu of a Social Security number and a Matricula Consular card, which are issued by Mexican consuls, rather than a driver's license or other form of identification issued by the United States government.

Mexican banks tougher than U.S. on Mexicans Wednesday, March 14 @ 19:59:32 EDT by Jean (2065 reads) | Activists working to secure U.S. borders and bring illegal immigration under control say Mexican banks are tougher on Mexicans than U.S. institutions are, refusing to accept as valid IDs those matricula consular cards Mexico issues.
As WND has reported, dozens of major United States banking institutions led by Bank of America are implementing a nationwide amnesty program for illegals by accepting the cards issued by consulates and described by critics as a "laminated piece of paper."
But officials with Americans for Legal Immigration say they've documented refusals by several large Mexican banking corporations to accept the same documentation.
