Obama unveils Comprehensive Immigration Reform strategy
Friday, November 13 @ 22:19:04 EST by jean (277 reads) |  Though it would seem unlikely that our President would introduce a controversial immigration reform strategy on the cusp of a healthcare decision in the Senate, he did indeed do that today.
DHS Secretary Napolitano introduced a broad outline for reform during a speech to the Center for America Progress this morning. In it she cited the many advances DHS has made in securing the US Border with Mexico. One of the centerpieces of this effort is the screening of 100% of southbound rail shipments for weapons and cash. While that sounds like a good thing for Mexico the logical question is this: What percent of northbound rail shipments are "screened" and what does "screening mean? Not to sound cynical but this Administration does not have a good record when it comes to spin and telling the absolute truth. The President demonstrated that clearly last week with Healthcare Reform.

This is still nothing but an amnesty plan and a give away of America. This plan cheapens citizenship by giving it to virtually anyone who can get to U.S. soil and seek it.

Polls: Majority oppose House health plan, inclusion of illegals, abortions

House Rules Comm. Caving to Hispanic Caucus, Illegals Allowed in Healthcare Plan

Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) indicated that the House will have to vote on a bill that allows illegal aliens to use the new healthcare "exchange" and that does not require verification to keep illegal aliens out of the other parts of the the proposed new federal healthcare system.

U.S. Supreme Court express interest in Arizona immigration law

In an unusual move, the U.S. Supreme Court has asked a top official at the Department of Justice to weigh in on claims by businesses and others that Congress never intended for state and local governments to enact their own programs designed to weed out and punish errant employers. The order, issued Monday, invites the solicitor general to file briefs "expressing the views of the United States."

The chief of an organization that has been fighting plans to grant
amnesty to millions, perhaps tens of millions of illegal aliens now
within the United States, has launched a campaign for a series of "tea
parties" on Nov. 14 to let Washington know what Americans want.
"I'm not going to mince words," said William Gheen, chief of
Americans for Legal Immigration, "We are calling for a peaceful,
political revolution and uprising in America now."
Dozens of events already have been planned, but more are needed,
Gheen said today. That's simply because while President George W.
Bush's plans for immigration reform and amnesty for illegals were bad,
under President Obama the situation is deteriorating quickly.

The Obama administration will push for immigration reform in Congress
once Democrats are certain they have enough votes to pass it, Interior
Secretary Ken Salazar said Tuesday in Washington.
According to the Spanish-language newspaper La Opinión, Salazar
attended an event organized by the National Association of Hispanic
Publications, where he said the reform bill “will be introduced when
there is certainty as to the availability of the necessary votes for it
to be approved,” reporter Antonieta Cádiz wrote.

Obama Administration Considering Shutting Down Internet Access Over Flu

telegraphing a desire to shut down 'certain websites' and civilian
access to the Internet in response to this weak strain of flu,
considering the fact that civilian Internet communications are the

globalist open borders amnesty agenda. The White House clearly has
resentments towards any media not under the control of their masters.

SEC and Homeland Security need Web backup, GAO says

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Securities exchanges have a sound network
back-up if a severe pandemic keeps people home and clogging the
Internet, but the Homeland Security Department has done little
planning, Congressional investigators said on Monday.
The department does not even have a plan to start work on the issue, the General Accountability Office said.
But the Homeland Security Department accused the GAO of having
unrealistic expectations of how the Internet could be managed if
millions began to telework from home at the same time as bored or sick
schoolchildren were playing online, sucking up valuable bandwidth...

Americans blame feds, support Sheriff Arpaio on immigration

U.S. voters want aggressive action to restrict illegal immigration, but they don’t think immigrants should bear the brunt of the enforcement efforts on their own. Most say the federal government and those hiring illegal immigrants also need to be brought into the discussion.

OUTRAGE! Obama stops Sheriff Joe Arpaio from arresting illegal aliens!

Immigration and Customs Enforcement chose not to
renew its federal immigration arrest authority agreement with Maricopa
County Sheriff Joe Arpaio Friday. "This just includes the jail, and
deep down, I feel that I ought to take it and rip it all up," Arpaio
said. Federal officials also refused to comment further.
Under the new agreement deputies and detention officers could continue
screening individuals once they are booked into the Maricopa County
jail, but federal authorities had not offered to allow Arpaio's
street-level immigration enforcement to continue. Under the new
agreement it looks like Arpaio no longer has authority to make arrests
of illegal aliens accused of committing serious crimes.

President Obama said this week that his health
care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the
more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get
coverage.
He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally
should be covered - a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill,
which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens
and longtime immigrants.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who
are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore
the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said
Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus
Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are
here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under
this plan, just like everybody else.
Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the
necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the
issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this
country once and for all."
Republicans said that amounts to an amnesty,
calling it a backdoor effort to make sure current illegal immigrants
get health care.

ANCIR poll: High immigration levels affect the cost of the health care system

The Medical News
The American Council for Immigration Reform (ANCIR) national poll on
immigration and its impact on health care issues conducted by Pulse
Opinion Research, LLC, of 1,000 likely voters on August 26, 2009 found
that 78% of Americans believe that high immigration levels have had an
adverse impact on the quality and cost of our health care system.
Republicans (89%) felt more strongly on the issue, but Democrats (69%)
were not far behind. Other key findings were:
Seventy-three percent (73%) of likely voters agreed that hospitals
should be allowed to inquire and collect data about the immigration
status of those seeking Emergency Room care without affecting the legal
requirement that they must provide emergency care. Just 18% said no.
