    Team America Immigration Alert - Bay Buchanan

    Team America Immigration Alert

    May 30, 2008
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Dear Friend,
    I'd like to welcome you to the first issue of our weekly e-newsletter Immigration Action Alert. Every Friday, we will send out the latest news-the good, the bad, and the ugly-in our fight to secure our borders, enforce our laws, and protect our sovereignty. We will keep you up to date on our candidates, let you know what immigration legislation is being talked about on Capital Hill, expose some of the most egregious outrages from the open borders lobby, and highlight signs of hope from Americans who are taking their country back. We will also tell you how Team America is responding to this news, and what you can do to help.
    It's hard to keep up with all the news, so please let us know if there is something you think we should cover. This newsletter is free of charge and do not hesitate to forward it to your friends and family or encourage them to sign up. We still welcome your contributions to help us keep running.
    With that said, here we go...
    CANDIDATES TO WATCH
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Utah's 3rd: Jason Chaffetz

    In 2004 and 2006 one of our top targets was La Raza Republican Chris Cannon. Cannon is Bush's go to guy for amnesty in the House. This "conservative Republican" won an award from MALDEF and told the crowd, "We love immigrants in Utah. And we don't make the distinction very often between legal and illegal."

    Two years ago we had him on the ropes, but our candidate was too weak to close the deal. Not so this time. His challenger Jason Chaffetz is as good as you can get. A former college football star and Gubernatorial chief of staff, he's young, articulate, and passionate. He is also a solid conservative who is committed to building a fence, ending birthright citizenship, stopping the influx of cheap foreign labor, and rejecting any amnesty under any name.

    Jason already beat Cannon at the convention and now faces him in a run off primary in less than four weeks. According to a NBC / Deseret News poll, Chaffetz is down by just two points at 37% to 39% and he has the momentum.

    If Jason wins, he will make every congressman who wants to get reelected think twice before they vote for an amnesty.

    This is why supporting Jason Chaffetz is so important. To help Jason go directly to his website or send your contribution to Team America marked "for Jason."

    Another Amnesty Averted

    Earlier in the month, the Open Borders lobby reached a new low when Dianne Feinstein stuck an amnesty for two to three million farm workers and as well as an increases in legal immigration onto an Iraq supplemental spending bill!!!

    Don't bother to ask how amnesty is somehow necessary to fight in Iraq. We never thought they would stoop to that level and were caught a little off guard. Fortunately the grassroots "Army Against Amnesty" was mobilized rapidly, and after your phone calls and faxes, all the measures were stripped last week.

    While this is a great victory, it shows that we need to stay vigilant against amnesty so they won't try a stunt like this again. We've stopped Ag Jobs almost half a dozen times, but they only need to win once. We need to kick out scam artists like Feinstein and elect patriots like Jason Chaffetz.

    Feds make Small Town Habla Espanol

    Mattawa, WA is an example of what we do not want America to turn into In the last 20 years the small rural community of 300 has seen its population grow more than tenfold. According to the LA Times, "Nine of every 10 Mattawa residents speak Spanish at home, and eight of every tenadults speak English 'less than very well.'" The article describes a part of the town as "a village of 40 reconstructed cargo containers. Six people squeeze into each unit. Families pay $10 per day; singles, $3."

    As you can imagine, Mattawa's small city government is completely overwhelmed. So how does the federal government respond to their crisis? After a left wing group called the Northwest Justice Project sued the city for not conducting business in English, the Justice Department has now forced all services in the city to become bilingual. With much of the economy underground, they have no tax base to pay for it, and the city is on the verge of bankruptcy. Earlier today, it was announced that the body of Juan Artega-Esquivel, an illegal alien who had already been deported, was found decomposing in a canal.

    Of course this is not just a problem that affects small towns. Remember when Tom Tancredo compared Miami to a Third World Country, and the establishment went nuts? The Associated Press just ran a story entitled "In Miami, Spanish is becoming the primary language" According to the article, "In many areas of Miami, Spanish has become the predominant language, replacing English in everyday life. Anyone from Latin America could feel at home on the streets, without having to pronounce a single word in English."

    Enforcement Works in Prince William County

    Prince William County doesn't want to turn into Mattawa or Miami. Unlike the federal government, the legislators in the county actually care about what their constituents think. Last year, the County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a common sense law that requires the police to check the immigration status of people they arrest and denies non-essential government benefits like rental assistance to illegal aliens.

    The predictable hysteria ensued. Corporate America threatened to pull business out of the county. Politicians, ethnic lobbies, and the mainstream media all called them "racist" and "xenophobic." But the county stuck to their guns and now the illegal immigrants are leaving the county in droves.

    Newsweek just ran a sob story about the plight of illegal aliens in the town, "Nancy Lyall, of the immigrant advocacy group Mexicans Without Borders, says she doesn't know what effect the policy change will have, but that it appears to have already damaged the Hispanic community.

    'The community is still completely devastated,' she said. 'And for those obviously that have left, there's certainly no reason for them to go back.'"

    That's the point of enforcement, Amiga!

    John McCain as Open Borders As Ever

    During the Republican primary John McCain, McCain changed his tune on immigration. He told voters "he got the message" after the grassroots revolt against amnesty. He said that he'd build a fence, oppose amnesty, and crack down on employers.

    Now that the nomination is secure, he's open about his amnesty. On Cinco De Mayo, he launched a Spanish language website and announced that he would speak at La Raza's convention. McCain voted for the Ag Jobs Amnesty in the Iraq bill. Last Thursday, he spoke to a group of rich Silicon Valley executives where he called illegal aliens "god's children" who should get residency in a "humane and comprehensive fashion" through a program "they can count on and trust." That means Amnesty!
    McCain continued, "We must enact comprehensive immigration reform. We must make it a top agenda item if we don't do it before, and we probably won't, a little straight talk, as of January 2009." Lying to Republican voters that you got their message on amnesty is anything but "straight talk."

    Barack Obama: Enforcing the Laws Leads to Hate Crimes

    Barack Obama doesn't want straight talk on immigration; in fact, he wants no talk. Last week he told a group of rich Democratic donors in Florida, "There's a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year. If you have people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up, it's not surprising that would happen."

    Even if you accept the anti-First Amendment concept of "hate crimes," they have only gone up, because the population of Hispanics have skyrocketed. The real rate of "hate crimes" against Hispanics has actually gone down in the last ten years.
    Of course, Obama isn't concerned about the thousands of people killed each year by illegal immigrants and Hispanic gangs; nor does he give a single example of a "hate crime" that he could somehow tie to Limbaugh or Dobbs listener. Obama doesn't care about crime, he just cares about shutting up patriotic Americans who want their laws enforced.

    There's not a dime's worth of difference between Obama and McCain on amnesty.

    I hope you found this newsletter informative. We are still new to this, so we welcome any of your comments and suggestions. Keep the faith, and I hope you look forward to receiving another issue next Friday.
