URGENT,TEXANS: A TEXAS REP. NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Rep. Burt Solomons. Chair of the State Affairs Commitee, needs to hear from constituents that they want hearings held on important anti-illegal-immigration bills this session. You can fax him without charge below.

    From The Peter Morrison Report
    3/18/09 9:57:08 A.M. Pacific Standard Time

TX REP NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU

I'm sending out this special message based on a request I received
today from friends at the State Capitol who are trying to get
important anti-illegal-immigration bills passed this session.

Basically, many of the important bills are not even scheduled for
hearings, and without hearings, the bills die. A particular
problem is the State Affairs Committee, which is chaired by Rep.
Burt Solomons. Several important bills are again in this
committee, where they were left to rot last session. We cannot let
    this happen again.

Rep. Solomons told activists earlier this week he "wasn't hearing
much" from constituents about these bills. That needs to change.
Please call his office at (512) 463-0478 and demand that he let
important immigration legislation have a hearing. Tell his office
to prioritize the bills supported by the Immigration Reform
    Coalition of Texas.

Please send a fax to Rep. Solomons as well:

Thank you for your activism and patriotism for our state and country.

    Peter Morrison

Texans Desperately Need Help To Get Our Immigration Bills Pa

Immigration Reform Coalition Of Texas ACTION ALERT - 3/24/09
    PRESSURE NEEDED TO PUSH BILLS
    81st Legislative Session
    www.ircot.com

TEXAS HOUSE & SENATE COMMITTEE CHAIRS
MUST HEAR YOUR VOICES LOUD & CLEAR

CITIZENS NEED TO DEMAND PUBLIC HEARINGS
    ON VITAL IMMIGRATION BILLS NOW

Two (2) EXTREMELY important bills were assigned to the Senate Transportation & Homeland Security Committee. Senator John Carona (R-Dallas) serves at the committee Chair. We have received a favorable opinion from the Texas Attorney General on both of the following bills which is a HUGE plus for our side. Now the challenge is to get them scheduled for a hearing and have them voted "favorably" out of committee.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO PASS MUCH NEEDED LEGISLATION THIS SESSION!

PLEASE CONTACT SENATOR CARONA AND REQUEST (IN A POLITE BUT FIRM TONE) SPEEDY AND FAIR HEARINGS ON THE FOLLOWING BILLS:

SENATE - TRANSPORTATION & HOMELAND SECURITY:
    Carona, John, Chair (R)
    Phone (512) 463-0067; Fax (512) 463-9997
    E-Mail committee contact: adam.burklund_sc@senate.state.tx.us

SB 357 - PATRICK, DAN (R) - relating to the suspension of certainlicenses held by employers for the knowing employment of persons notlawfully present in the U.S.

SB 358 - PATRICK, DAN (R) - relating to the enforcement of state &federal laws governing immigration by certain governmental entities(i.e., "sanctuary city" policies).

UNFORTUNATELY, A BIGGER BATTLE LOOMS IN THE HOUSE STATE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE (where our bills were sent to ROT last session).

Once again, most of our important immigration bills were sent to the Texas House State Affairs Committee by Speaker Straus. He appointed his supporter, Rep. Burt Solomons (R-Carrollton) as Chair of that powerful committee.

It seems Rep. Solomons is a little confused as to just how IMPORTANT this issue is to U.S. CITIZENS residing in Texas -- the people he was elected to serve and protect.

To add insult to injury, Rep. Solomons introduced HB 3949 - relating to the requirement that applicants for certain licenses be eligible for employment in the U.S. Then he got it assigned to his own State Affairs Committee.

AMAZINGLY..... on page 2 of Solomons' bill, an EXCEPTION is made for "...an applicant for a horse or greyhound license... ." Interesting.... Speaker Joe Straus' family is involved in the horse racing business in San Antonio, TX.

It seems some committee Chairs have made it their mission to see that important immigration bills DIE again in committees by not giving them SPEEDY & FAIR hearings. Some( it seems) would rather leave the gates wide open, robbing CITIZENS (residing in Texas) of not only much need jobs -- but also their safety and security.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO END THIS MADNESS??

    PLEASE ACT NOW!

CALL, FAX, EMAIL Chairman Solomons & forward this alert to all your Texas contacts asking them to do the same.

    Rep. Burt Solomons (R-Carrollton)
    Chairman, House State Affairs Committee
    Phone: 512-463-0814 (Committee Office)

Send a Free Fax (service provided by our friends at the Peter Morrison Report):

    http://www.morrisonreport.com/fax_test/ ... p?faxID=73

OR via e-mail to Solomons at: burt.solomons@house.state.tx.us

Tell him to give the following bills (listed in priority) a SPEEDY and FAIR hearing. Let him know that you want them voted "favorably" out of his committee:

HB 266 - BERMAN, LEO (R) - regulating the provision of benefits & services to, and verification of employment status of, immigrants and to enforcing laws relating to immigrants; providing civil & criminal penalties

HB 276 - ZERWAS, JOHN (R) - requiring that state agencies report the cost of services and benefits provided to unlawful immigrants

HB 404 - HARLESS, PATRICIA (R) - relating to the enforcement of state & federal laws
governing immigration by certain governmental entities (i.e., "sanctuary city" policies)

HB 658 - JACKSON, JIM (R) - relating to requiring governmental entities to participate in the federal E-Verify work authorization program

HB 1061 - JACKSON, JIM (R) - relating to the requirement of citizenship or unlawful presence in the U.S. for issuance or renewal of certain occupational licenses, driver's licenses, identification cards.

HB 622 - HARLESS, PATRICIA (R) - relating to the suspension of certain licenses held by employers for the knowing employment of persons not lawfully present in the U.S.

THEN....... Call Solomons at: 512-463-0478 (Rep. Office)

Tell him "NO" to his HB 3949!

Finally, urge your Representatives to support the above listed bills as well. Contact information can be found here:
