JACKSON COUNTY - A McAllen woman accused of money laundering is sitting in a Jackson County jail. The county is located northeast of Victoria.

Lydia Maldonado Guerrero is being held on a $50,000 bond. DPS troopers say the 45-year-old woman was traveling south of Edna on Highway 59 with 40-year-old Samuel Rodriguez. A trooper stopped the two.

We're told the trooper was suspicious and asked to search the vehicle. The trooper found 14 bundles of cash, which totaled $134,000. The money was hidden throughout the vehicle. Cash was found in the console, truck and underneath the seats.

Guerrero and Rodriguez were arrested. The McAllen woman was charged with second-degree felony money laundering.

Troopers say this case isn't connected to another money laundering case that happened last month. That case also had ties to the Rio Grande Valley.

Troopers suspect this case possibly involved drugs that had been sent to Dallas from the Valley.

We're working to get more information on the case.
