On Monday morning, Border Patrol agents in Del Mar rounded up more than a dozen people suspected of entering the country illegally by boat, and two of them were taken to a hospital to be treated for hypothermia.
An outboard-powered open-hull fishing boat known as a panga was found about a quarter-mile south of Torrey Pines State Beach about midnight, and the U.S. Coast Guard launched a helicopter to aid border patrol agents in the search of the area, Petty Officer 1st Class Henry Dunphy said.
Two people were taken to a hospital to be treated for hypothermia, Del Mar City Lifeguard Tomas Bryant said.
Border Patrol agents detained 16 people, CBS8 reported.
