    18 Illegal Immigrants in Arizona City Detained

    ARIZONA CITY, Ariz. - After a 45-minute search in an area south of Arizona City, Pinal County Sheriff's deputies have arrested 18 suspected illegal immigrants.

    A deputy doing patrol first spotted several subjects trying to hide under a tree. He was able to apprehend three of the people, but the remaining 15 fled into a field.

    A perimeter was set up around the field with help from the Border Patrol and additional deputies.

    After 45 minutes, everyone was taken into custody.

    They admitted to deputies they were in the United States illegally. They said they walked from Mexico and were waiting for a coyote to drive them to Phoenix.

    The 18 individuals were turned over to the Border Patrol for processing.

    The area where the arrests occurred are in a known corridor for human and trafficking.
