RAMONA — Narcotics agents seized 241 guns, more than a pound and a half of methamphetamine, plus other drugs in a 10-month investigation capped Wednesday with 23 arrests in Ramona, Carlsbad and La Mesa.

Ramona sheriff’s investigators opened the case in January and uncovered a number of people selling meth in the rural community, Ramona sheriff’s Lt. Rich Williams said.

As “Operation High Grade” unfolded, deputies, Drug Enforcement Administration and Narcotics Task Force agents served search warrants and made a total of 29 arrests on the case in August, September and on Wednesday.

Agents seized 240 guns while investigating Anthony Gordon, 20,
who was arrested in Ramona on Aug. 7, Williams said. A stolen pistol was seized, along with 3.5 grams of meth, on Sept. 9 when two warrants were served in Ramona and three men and a woman were arrested. Another suspect was arrested on Sept. 18.

More than 100 deputies and officers served eight warrants on Wednesday, arresting 20 people from Ramona, two from Carlsbad and one from La Mesa.

In all, agents confiscated more than 1.6 pounds of meth, 147 marijuana plants, five pounds of pot, plus prescription pills including Ritalin, Xanax and Ecstasy, heroin, psilocybin mushrooms, drug equipment and $500 in cash,
Williams said.
