5 Texas towns make 'America's Most Dangerous Cities'
list for 2017

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report divides violent crime into four classes — murder/non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault —
and calculates a rate of each incident class per 100,000 residents.

Five Texas cities have been named as some of the most dangerous in the country by Neighborhood Scout, a data company, in its latest ranking.

The company analyzed FBI data for cities with a population of 25,000 or more to compile America's Top 100 Most Dangerous Cities for 2017. Neighborhood Scout used violent and property crime data to configure their list.

Houston made the list, a city that saw 22,184 violent crimes and 101,879 property crimes annually, according to the ranking.
