    A traffic stop lead to the arrest of a group of undocumented immigrants in northern Hidalgo County today.

    It happened around 5 o’clock this afternoon near Mile 4 in an orchard located between Glasscock and Stewart roads in Mission.

    U.S. border patrol agents with the assistance of Alton police officers and Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies were able to conduct the arrest of the 72 individuals believed to be in the country illegally.

    The group was loaded into two vans and transported to the McAllen border patrol station for processing.

    HIDALGO COUNTY - Border Patrol agents are interviewing 71 illegal immigrants found in Palmhurst.

    Authorities said someone tipped them off to a suspicious vehicle near Glasscock and Mile 4 roads. They found the vehicle abandoned near an orchard. The immigrants were hiding nearby behind some palms.

    Federal agents now are trying to determine how long the immigrants had been at the site.

    Border Patrol encourages residents to report suspicious activity by calling 1-800-863-9382.
