LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WAAY)- Officers from the Madison County Narcotics Unit received a tip that Agapito Peter Gomez would be transporting marijuana into Limestone County on December 17th.
Athens and Limestone County Narcotics Units assisted Madison County in stopping Gomez on Swancott Road. A K-9 unit alerted on $125,000 dollars worth of marijuana in boxes in the back of the truck.
37-year-old Gomez from Atlanta, Georgia is charged with Trafficking Marijuana and Obstructing Justice by giving a false name.
Sheriff Mike Blakely says "the fact that we try to work together and makes us be able to do a much better job. If we are willing to work together not caring about who gets the credit or who gets the bust but more about getting the dope off the street."
Gomez is on probation for previous drug charges. ICE will pick up Gomez to deport him back to Mexico.
