Free Trade Faces Rough Going in Andean Region
In the Andean countries, the political prospects for free trade agreements are even worse. Bolivia is out of the picture because a showdown over the Andean Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) could cause the fall of yet another government, caught between the dictums of the economic model and the anger of a people fed up with empty promises. Venezuela under the U.S. nemesis, Hugo Chavez, has denounced all prospects of an FTA with the United States . Both Ecuador and Peru face possible referendums on the issue in their countries and may be barred from participating anyway by the United States , whichâ€â€

    Thanks for the update, Vicente!!

The US is not playing "fair" and should not be"playing" at all as our government does not have our support for these agreements.

Do everything you can to defeat them from your country and region Vicente and we'll keep up the good fight here in the USA.

Free Trade is Not Free. It is highly regulated and controlled and transfers power over the business conducted under them to the WTO, World Trade Organization and fuels immigration into the USA when the people of the other nation's meet disappointment and failure trying to do business under these despicable Treason Treaties.

STOP ALL FTAs! They are utter Globalist Nonsense and Dangerous because as Vicente points out, not everyone will give up and try to enter the United States. Many will stand their ground, try to stand up for their country and their fellow citizens to correct inequities and this spawns the paramilitary groups in these nations with gripes against their leaders and ultimately the USA and the American People!

Vicente, please let your people know that WE, the People of the United States are innocent. All we did wrong was elect a Wackident Traitor as President because he was a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, a fact we have only recently uncovered and are doing everything we can to Impeach him.

Thanks Judy --- These people operate from house in New Mexic

Thanks Judy --- These people operate from a house in New Mexico

    Thanks Judy :

I am posting a lot in the Spanish Language in my Forums and other Spanish Language Forums. Trying to destroy the FTAs that are going to impoverish the peasants and the nations.

FTAs to make drugs very expensive, to torpedo the generic drugs, etc ...

To impose absurd patents on the botanics and animals of Latin America and their known medical, agricultural or industrial properties.

Colombia has become a nation of Emigrants, with FIVE MILLION PEOPLE that have left our country.

How do you like that ???

    Isn't that a REAL HUMAN TRAGEDY ???

And this Andean FTA of Mr Bush could increase the rate of emigration.

    IRC's History
The IRC was founded in 1979 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The plight of undocumented Mexican workers and the impact of energy development on indigenous communities in the Southwest were the focus of the IRC's early work.

In 1981 they published a book on U.S. relations with Central America called Dollars and Dictators and produced several audio-visual presentations about the conflict-ridden region. Over the course of the 1980s their primary focus was on Central American politics and economic development and the role of U.S. policy in the region. The IRC acquired an international reputation as a leading source of information and analysis on these issues.

Having maintained a focus on U.S. policy in Central America and the Caribbean throughout the 1980s, the IRC turned its attention to the changing U.S.-Mexico relationship in 1990, producing a number of books on politics and development in Mexico as well as on U.S.-Mexico relations.

    COMMENTS FROM VICENTE :

I don't know if you inside the USA are familiar with your countrymen in Albuquerque, New Mexico and with this institution.

It seems that they moved to Silver City, also located in New Mexico.

Whatever your identification or opinion about the Foundation of These Young People, they are treating important topics.

And the short article of Laura about Trade Agreements is SUPERB.

    Thanks again dear Judy.

You are always kind and studious of these important matters.

I hope that readers here will take up these issues for the coming U. S. Elections during year 2006.

The Full House of Representatives and One Third of the U. S. Senate will be renewed.

    Best Regards

    Hi, Judy

    I answser your question :

Your country is losing is most important Resource...it's people.

    Where did they go?

Did they all come to the USA or part here and part to other locations?

These are the countries that have received most Colombians

By order of importance or number of immigrant Colombians :

    1) United States

    2) Spain

    3) Venezuela

    4) Mexico

    5) Italy

    6) Canada

    7) Australia

    8 - England

    9) Israel

I will try to be more specific in numbers, percentajes and so on.

Please make the rooms and beds for another FIVE MILLION Colombians that will emigrate thanks to the Andean FTA that the U. S. Government and Mr Bush are pushing.

Don't forget a TV Set and a phone in each room !

The Andean FTA will ruin the countryside and the Agriculture Fields of Colombia

    OH MY GOODNESS!!

USA has many times more than anyone except Venezuela, over 2,000,000 probably almost 3,000,000 by now...from just one country.

Vicente, thanks for much for finding this data. This is very telling and shows how serious the problem already is and how worse it will get with the AFTA and the ultimate FTAA.
