Ann Arbor restaurant operators sentenced in immigration case
Ann Arbor restaurant operators sentenced in immigration case
February 11, 2009
Buzz up!
A Detroit federal judge has sentenced the operators of an Ann Arbor restaurant for harboring illegal Mexican immigrant employees in their basement.
Prosecutors say Guan Han Chen and his ex-wife Hoa Le Chen employed, transported and housed the immigrants in 2006-2007. The home is in Washtenaw County’s Ypsilanti Township.
Prosecutors say the Chens run the New Garden Buffet. A jury convicted them in October.
Judge Gerald Rosen on Wednesday gave Guan Han Chen seven months in prison and seven months in a community corrections facility. Rosen sentenced Hoa Le Chen to time served.
The Associated Press left phone and e-mail messages with their lawyers Wednesday night seeking comment.

Isn't this the kind of enforcement that was 'Promised' with the 1986 immigration reform laws? It just took 23 years to be applied.
