The racist Minutemen group has previously been known for anti-immigrant publicity stunts on the Arizona border. Its supporters had proclaimed that “grassroots organizations� would hold actions in 19 states on Jan. 7.

this isn't reporting - this is editorializing it's so slanted it's tipped over

I'll go you one better, Thelma. I'd call it propaganda. The writing is so heavily loaded with disinformation, it reminds me of the writing I used to see from the Students for a Democratic Society so many years ago.(which was a socialist organization). Also smacks of the Communist Party writings we used to see in Cambridge, Mass. during the 60's. Pretty Orwelian with its twisted semantics.

This isn't a newspaper. This is a leftist propaganda rag.

It is the Communist Party writings...note the name "People's Weekly."

There's a lesson to be learned here. That protest was scheduled on WAY TOO SHORT NOTICE. As we know, we weren't notified of it until 10 days before it was to happen and you just can't PLAN a protest and expect to have a HUGE turnout on such short notice AND over the Christmas holidays. This probably did more to HURT our cause than to HELP IT. All of those Hispanic activist groups have just been handed the ammunition they wanted on a silver platter. We need to learn that a VIABLE and ACTIVE protest should be planned MONTHS in advance--not DAYS. I guess the other lesson we NEED to learn is that it really IS IMPORTANT that we show up at these protests because, if we don't, they think they have won the battle. I hope, in the future, the organizers of these protests make their plans better so that people CAN attend.
