LITTLE ROCK — A state lawmaker suggested today that a company may have used undocumented workers for a project on the state Capitol grounds.

Rep. Jim Nickels, D-Sherwood, made the assertion as the Senate Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs discussed his bill to require the state Contractor Licensing Board to suspend or revoke the licenses of contractors who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Nickels said a subcontractor, believed to be S&G Contractors of Beebe, used illegal immigrants to do some work on the nearly $5 million project to transform the old state library space in the Multi-Agency Complex on the Capitol mall into meeting rooms and office space for the state House and Bureau of Legislative Research employees.

He said the subcontractor also never paid its workers.

“My bill, I hope will address that issue,â€

Seriously... is this supposed to surprise anyone? We have 20 million illegal invaders in this country in which a large portion of them are working somewhere. Many of them work in or around construction.

I would even bet there are a few working in the Capital building itself with stolen/fradulent identification. How about that!

The only ones seemingly surprised by this revelation are the lawmakers. Just goes to show how out of touch they are with this situation.

Thanks to the sponsorships of Tyson, WalMart, Organized Religion, and the (SOCIALIZED) Public School System, states like Arkansas have already long since become nesting beds to millions of illegal aliens. And these are in already economically depressed and IMPOVERISHED states BEGGING for employment relief.

    THE DEFEAT OF HB 1292

    February 24, 2011

Ali Baba (Beebe) and his 9 Thieves (Cheatham, Cowling, Hall, Nickels, Pennartz, Roebuck, Rogers, Tyler, & Wilkins)

Governor Mike Beebe and his Democrat automatons (those on a string) should be tried and convicted of Grand Theft. I refer to HB 1292 by Jon Hubbard which would deny benefits to illegal Mexican aliens and OTM’s not mandated by the federal government.

Beebe, paying homage to his masters, namely Wal-Mart, Stephens, Tyson, Catholic Church, etc. and oh yes, the Marxist Communist Barack Hussein Obama, aka president of the United States, and in our time of exploding deficits i.e. bankruptcy, got the Bill defeated and continues to steal huge amounts of money from Americans by force for redistribution to the illegal criminal elements roosting in our republic.

Beebe, upon being questioned on multiple occasions, indicated he and DFA Administrator Weiss knew how much of Arkansas’ taxpayers’ money was being funneled into the illegal Mexican & OTM communities. Further questioning Beebe recanted and said he had no idea how money was being spent on illegals in our state. This fact alone, his lying, demonstrates he and his accomplices should be charged with thievery.

He is now, through his backroom bullying and instructions to the 9 automatons, actually better described as 9 piss-ants, not only defeated Hubbard’s Bill but continues to communicate to 3rd World foreign nationals it is okay to illegally invade our country and more specifically Arkansas, accompanied by Millions in forced handouts, compliments of beleaguered taxpayers.

In the year 2009, just in one segment of the free prenatal care legislation cost Arkansas taxpayers over $100 million. This was gained by an FOIA which was wholly incomplete.

Democrat legislators in the General Assembly have shown they are quite willing to dance to the attendance of their Head Thief, Gov. Mike Beebe.

I will pose the question again, what happened to the $90 million sent to the state on Dec. 22, 2010 that claimed to be for infrastructure and/or re-hiring government union types that were laid off, but ended up in the coffers of the corrupt public school system, i.e. government schools to be dispensed to teachers as bonuses. Corruption you say? What have Arkansas teachers done as a whole to deserve a bonus?

And finally Gov. Beebe, when you tip off to bed, before you hit the sack, look into one of those big mirrors and you will recognize the real Dorian Grey.

Ark. panel subpoenas company over worker claims

    Feb 28, 2011 2:38pm

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Senate panel voted Monday to subpoena a construction company that helped renovate a building on the state Capitol grounds after a lawmaker claimed that the business had hired illegal immigrants for some work.

The Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs committee issued the subpoena to S&G Construction, which is based in Beebe, for a May 11 joint hearing. The move came days after a lawmaker told the panel that the company used illegal immigrant workers on part of the renovation of a room in the Multi-Agency Complex, located adjacent to the state Capitol.

"If there's some flaw in the system here because we had a person who may have been undocumented working on a state project, and it's clear there are supposed to be steps to go through to make sure this doesn't happen and we have this side issue of someone not being paid, someone needs to be held responsible," Sen. Sue Madison, the committee's chairwoman, told reporters after the vote.

Rep. Jim Nickels told the panel last week that S&G Construction hired the illegal immigrants while it worked as a subcontractor for VCC, which was the lead contractor on the project. The phone number listed for S&G was disconnected.

Brad Davis, VCC's chief financial officer, said last week that the first time he had heard of the complaint was when he was asked to appear before the panel last week. Davis said his business relies on its subcontractors to follow all state and federal laws for hiring.

Nickels, D-Sherwood, made the claim as he presented legislation that would allow the state to revoke the licenses of contractors that knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Anne Laidlaw, director of the Arkansas Building Authority, said her committee was not investigating the claim because it had not received any complaint. S&G's workers were on the job site for only three days and did not return to work, so the firm's contract was terminated, Laidlaw said. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported last week that Manuel Damacho, who said he is in the country illegally, told the newspaper that S&G hired him to frame some rooms for the project and that he was never paid the $7,000 he was promised.

Nickels used the claim as an example of why his legislation is needed.

"I think what it shows is the inadequacy of the current law," Nickels said.

Nickels' proposal would allow the state Contractors Licensing Board to revoke or suspend the licenses of contractors found to knowingly hire illegal immigrants. He pulled his proposal down to look at changes to the measure after officials with the board questioned how the new restrictions could be enforced.

Scott Copas, the board's chairman, said one problem is that the board only licenses about 40 percent of contractors in the state.
