Applied Research Center releases statement condemning SB 1070 as an attack on immigrants and communities of color.


Amid nationwide protest and presidential criticism, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed immigration bill SB 1070 into law on April 23. The Applied Research Center condemns the law as an attack on immigrants and communities of color already grappling with racial profiling and disproportionately high rates of arrest and incarceration, resulting in broken trust between law enforcement and our communities.

Policies like SB 1070 which clearly have disproportionate adverse impacts on people of color are emblematic of institutional racism. The Administration must take a step back from a problematic policy framework, starting with taking seriously the government’s own documents and reports highlighting the ways in which immigrants face discriminatory raids, unjust detentions and deportation quotas.

What the heck? There are QUOTAS on deportation of illegal aliens?

What the heck? There are QUOTAS on deportation of illegal aliens?

There was a leaked publicized in house ICE intra departmental memo calling for a number of deportations. It did not come out of the DC HQ Office It was of course a tiny number of those here.

Why is so much of the view of the Left based upon half-truths, and erroneous conclusions?

I know they think racial profiling is wrong--although it is an accepted part of criminal investigation, That is how we nab criminals of every stripe.

I know they believe it was the Europeans who devastated the native population of the Americas with smallpox. They ignore the fact that Muslim slave traders devastated both Africa and Europe by spreading small pox in earlier centuries.

Thank You Richard. Why am I left wondering why there is not more news concerning this blatant disregard for not doing what these people are paid to do! Uphold the law! QUOTAS! Sounds like some sort of Nazi policy! This is outrageous. These people are paid to do their jobs, and protect the people and our nation and they are trying to placate some of the electorate with QUOTAS!

These people need to be investigated and fired or tried for dereliction of duties, or treason!
