Ariz. business groups want action on immigration
    Posted: Thursday, July 1, 2010 5:29 pm

Nineteen business groups in Arizona are urging the federal government to pass immigration reform in part to help fix the "divisive, emotionally charged environment" in the state.

The business groups say the environment is "tearing at the fabric of Arizona's sense of community and threatening the essence of our historically diverse culture."

The groups include the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arizona General Contractors, Arizona Latino Research Enterprise, and the chambers of commerce in Flagstaff, Phoenix, Glendale and others.

The statement they issued Thursday says regardless of how anyone feels about the state's immigration laws, they have created tension in the community and led to boycotts of the state.

They say Arizona can't solve illegal immigration, and that the federal government must act.

These are the same groups that fought all the attempts at enforcement with Napalitano. All they want is cheap labor. It doesn't have anything to do with tearing the community apart. And the only reason they are calling on the feds is because they know our administration wants full amnesty. That would put these guys in heaven to have all that cheap, non-stop labor.

Yes but the labor is not cheap - it's good for businesses but horrible for taxpayers - and our social safety net is already collapsing from their weight.

I see it all over the place. There are a lot of small mom and pop types of businesses that will employ a few illegal aliens. So It's not just the big employers: it's also a lot of grubby little businesspeople who don't like working for someone else and see their little workforce of illegals as the key to success.
