Tucson Sector Border Patrol is taking measures to prevent sexual perpetrators from crossing the border to the United States.
According to a press release, many illegal immigrants who are apprehended while attempting to cross the Arizona border are identified as sex offenders or other dangerous criminals.
The Border Patrol uses the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System to identify immigrants with possible criminal records.
In the month of March, the Tucson Sector Border Patrol arrested 26 illegal immigrants, all of whom were identified as sex offenders. Record checks showed a range of charges, including Child Fondling, Sexual Abuse, Sexual Battery, Lewd and Lascivious Acts against a Child and Rape.
The Tucson Sector Border Patrol encourages community assistance. You can anonymously report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol by calling 1-877-872-7435, toll free.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The month of March was a busy one for U.S. Border Patrol agents stopping dangerous sex offenders from entering the U.S.
In separate incidents, agents in the Tucson sector arrested 26 illegal immigrants who were later identified as sex offenders during processing.
That's almost one a day.
Of the 26 arrested, 21 were from Mexico, three were from Guatemala, one was from Honduras and one was from Ecuador.
The charges that the men were convicted of in the U.S. ranged from sexual abuse, sexual battery, lewd and lascivious acts against a child and rape.
The men were held for further processing.
