PHOENIX, Ariz. (CBS Las Vegas) – An Arizona lawmaker has introduced a bill that would prohibit illegal aliens from using public services, like roads or bathrooms.

But Republican State Rep. Carl Seel tells KTAR the bill is not targeted at all illegal immigrants.

“It only applies to people who have had their day in court,” he said. “In other words, if you were here illegally and you were driving recklessly and you got arrested for it..and you had your day in court and thereafter, you could not show that you were legally here and you overstayed your court orders.”

Seel said the bill would also apply to American citizens who come to Arizona from another state if they are in violation of their parole or fail to register as a sex offender once they arrive.

The conservative Republican backed Arizona’s controversial immigration bill that required police officers to determine the residency status of all immigrants; and he authored a bill requiring presidential candidates to prove their citizenship before appearing on Arizona ballots.

Seel told KTAR he expects his latest proposed bill to stir up controversy. ”Any bill that anybody writes, they can slam it anyway they want or slant it anyway they want.”
