    U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the Brownsville Port of Entry Arrest Man Wanted for Homicide and Rape in Mexico

    Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Brownsville Port of Entry on Friday apprehended a man wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service on homicide and rape charges. On July 27, CBP officers working northbound pedestrian traffic at the Gateway International Bridge encountered a male pedestrian. (more)

    Detroit - As part of a joint effort with investigators from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers from the Port of Detroit targeted and seized three shipments of LED lighted trees after they were found to have undersized wiring and insufficient strain relief making them an electrical and flammability hazard.     Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge intercepted a woman for alleged violations of immigration law. The United States citizen allegedly attempted to facilitate a Mexican child's entry into the United States without valid entry documents. (more)

    Sex Offender Sentenced to More Than 3 Years

    Tucson, Ariz. - A 56-year-old male from Morelos, Mexico, apprehended by Casa Grande Station Border Patrol agents in December 2011, was sentenced in June to 40 months of confinement. The U.S. Attorney's Office prosecuted Ruben Olguin-Gutierrez after his apprehension for attempting to illegally re-enter the United States as an aggravated felon after deportation. (more)

    U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter, Blaine Sector July 19 – July 25

    (Monday, July 30, 2012)
    Blaine, Wash. – The information listed below is from arrests and seizures related to the U.S. Border Patrol in the Blaine Sector area of operations. For security reasons, this may not be a complete list of enforcement actions.


    07/19/2012 – A concerned citizen reported a bicyclist near the United States/Canada border in an area east of Sumas, Wash. United States Border Patrol agents responded to the area and encountered the bicyclist who had been seen earlier riding on a road in Canada. The subject, a citizen of Canada, admitted to having just entered the United States illegally. The individual had previously been removed from the United States and had criminal convictions for manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance and passing counterfeit money. The subject was placed under arrest and processed for reinstatement of a prior order of removal.


    07/19/2012 – Blaine Border Patrol agents encountered three individuals in close proximity to the United States/Canada border east of Blaine, Wash. The three subjects, citizens of India, were determined to be present in the United States illegally. The suspects were placed under arrest and processed for removal.


    07/23/2012 – Operators of a remote video surveillance system observed a suspicious vehicle stopped near the United States/Canada border east of Blaine, Wash. and notified nearby agents. The responding Blaine Border Patrol agent encountered the vehicle and performed a vehicle stop east of Blaine, Wash. The three occupants of the vehicle, citizens of Mexico, were determined to be present in the United States illegally. The suspects were placed under arrest and processed for removal.


    07/23/2012 – While patrolling the border, Sumas Border Patrol agents witnessed four individuals cross the United States/Canada border east of Sumas, Wash. The subjects, citizens of India, were located and admitted to being present in the United States illegally. The individuals were placed under arrest and processed for removal.

    Doulgas, Ariz. - An Hermosillo man was arrested Thursday for allegedly attempting to smuggle approximately $318,000 worth of marijuana through the Douglas port of entry.U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred Ricardo Osornio Gutierrez, 35, for inspection of his Chevrolet truck when he attempted to enter the United States.
