YUMA, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents seized 496 pounds of marijuana and stopped a human smuggling attempt through Dome Valley over the weekend.

Friday agents arrested a U.S. citizen transporting three illegal immigrants through Dome Valley in an apparent attempt to bypass Wellton Station’s immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8, east of Yuma.

Saturday agents spotted an ultra-light aircraft dropping drugs north of the U.S. border and then return to Mexico. The ULA was seen north of Interstate 8 and the Imperial Sand Dunes, near Ogilby Road. Agents recovered 226 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $113,000.

Agents assigned to Yuma Sector’s forward operating base, Camp Grip, arrested three illegal immigrants Sunday with 270 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $135,000.

All drugs and subjects were processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
