PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) -
The man police said tried to carjack four vehicles and shot two drivers before Department of Public Safety troopers shot him was apparently in the U.S. illegally.
Phoenix police identified the suspect in the Dec. 26 incident as 31-year-old Oligario B. Renteria, and he was booked on multiple charges on Monday.
On Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement put an I-247 immigration detainer against Renteria. That means if he is released from jail, federal officers will take him into custody.
ICE also said Renteria has been deported to Mexico four times since 2003. He was returned to Mexico most recently in October of 2013 after he served prison time in New Mexico for felony re-entry after deportation, ICE said.
Due to his injuries, police said they were unable to take a mug shot.
Investigators said the carjacking spree started in the area of 35th Avenue and Thomas Road when Renteria held a 22-year-old man at gunpoint and demanded he drive him to Mexico.
While on the Interstate 17, Renteria and the victim struggled over the gun and the steering wheel, police said.
They hit the concrete dividers along the freeway at least twice before stopping in the high-speed lane, according to police. The victim wasn't seriously hurt.
Renteria then allegedly tried to steal at least three more vehicles on the freeway and got into another crash.
He reportedly pointed a gun at motorists and DPS troopers before he was shot.
Renteria was booked on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of armed robbery, one count of kidnapping, one count of aggravated assault on police and one count of possession of a weapon by prohibited person.
Police said two days before the crime spree, Renteria was involved in a drug-related shooting near Mesa Drive and Broadway Road in Mesa. Around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 24, he got into a fight with another man over drugs and shot and killed him, police said. Renteria hasn't been booked in that case yet.

The current administration has blinders on they can only see they have more voters to register. They care nothing about the citizens of this country. They are still confused how Trump got elected and can't except it.
