FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

A stash of marijuana with a street value of more than $1.1 million was found Wednesday in an SUV covered with a tarp and hidden in brush in Pinal County.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit found the pot south of Interstate 8 near Stanfield Road while working with the West Desert Task Force to combat drug and human smuggling in known west desert corridors used by Mexican cartels.

The marijuana weighed 1,550 pounds.

No suspects were located near the vehicle, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said. The vehicle and marijuana were seized.

The West Desert Task Force is a joint initiative between U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations and the Pinal County Sheriff's Office to combat narcotics trafficking.
