PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ -- Authorities have arrested two Prescott Valley residents following a several weeks long undercover operation involving the sales of methamphetamine.

Mirna Peralta, 29, and Jose Fonseca, 27, were arrested February 4 after a search warrant was served on their home.

Yavapai County Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said detectives got information last November that Peralta was dealing methamphetamine in Prescott Valley and a Special Crimes Unit detective made a purchase in the parking lot of a drug store.

A week later another meth purchase was made in the parking lot of a Mexican market in Prescott Valley. This time, Fonseca allegedly sold the drugs; he had been earlier identified by Peralta as her husband.

D'Evelyn said two more purchases were made in November from Peralta to an undercover detective, and once again in December.

Detectives reportedly learned where the couple lived and were able to verify their travel from the home every time a meeting to purchase drugs was set.

By the end of the year, D'Evelyn said, several hundred dollars of drugs had been purchased by undercover detectives.

On February 4, SCU detectives, along with Prescott Valley Police officers served a warrant at the suspects' home where they found scales, drug paraphernalia, counterfeit identification cards -- including a driver's license with Peralta's photo -- and fake social security cards.

Officials say Fonseca had previously been deported due to his undocumented immigrant status.

Fonseca and Peralta were booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center and are being held without bond.

Fonseca faces several charges, including possession/sales of narcotics and forgery.

Peralta has been charged with over 20 counts including possession/sales of narcotics, use of electronic communications during drug transactions, forgery and possession of paraphernalia.

D'Evelyn said Peralta's two children have been place in protective custody.
