BLACK AMERICAN LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE OUTSPOKEN AGAINST IMMIGRATION BILL

by KEVIN L. MARTIN 28 Jun 2013 POST A COMMENT

The passage of the Senate’s Immigration Bill will not deter the mission of the Black American Leadership Alliance (BALA) and its coalition partners.

The Senate passed their version of a immigration bill yesterday by a 68-32 vote, sending it to the House of Representatives, where Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said it would not be considered in lieu of the House’s own version.

The BALA told Breitbart News that will continue to oppose any immigration bills:

    • that don’t include border security measures first
    • that offersa path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million illegals in the nation
    • that have not been read by Congress before its passage (as with the Senate Bill); or
    • that put political and corporate interest ahead of those of the American people and workers

As put to Breitbart News, BALA and its coalition partners want to know how President Obama and members of Congress can consider a speedy passage of a pro-amnesty immigration bill for the estimated 11 million illegal immigrations at the time, when an estimated 22 million Americans remain among the long term unemployed. BALA is also demanding answers from Black elected officials and leaders who have remained mostly silent on the issue at a time when 1 out of 7 blacks are currently out of work as the jobless recovery drags on. These officicals are fully aware that this bill will flood the American labor force at the expense of jobless minorities, who can no longer support their families at this time.

Since its inception, the BALA has made inroads---much to the dismay of opponents who have employed a number of bullying tactics, including the attempted permanent shutdown of the group’s Twitter page. “We will not be deterred at any level,” said Leah Durant, Executive Director of the Black American Leadership Alliance. “We will be marching for jobs and highlighting the plight of the Americans at a time when Congress is considering flooding the work force with cheap labor, which in the end will devastate blacks and other minority workers, who have come to depend more than ever on entry level and low wage jobs in the wake of the great recession.”

The BALA and its coalition partners plan to rally on July 15th at Freedom Plaza located between 13th and 14th Streets on Pennsylvania Ave. The purpose of the march is to bring attention to the fact that millions of working class Americans of all creeds will be hurt by the Senate bill.

The march and rally includes a number of powerful speakers such as Congressman Mo Brooks, former Congressmen Allan West, Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, C.L. Bryant, William Gheen, Kevin Jackson and many other community, religious and intellectual leaders from around the nation.
More information on the rally and mission of the BALA can be found at www.DCmarchforjobs.

Join Black American Leadership Alliance at DC March For Jobs!

The Black American Leadership Alliance has organized the DC March for Jobs protest to demand members of Congress reject amnesty, and let them know that amnesty in tantamount to selling out the black American community.

President Obama was elected and reelected with the overwhelming support of black Americans across the nation, but now for political expediency, Barack Obama supports throwing the black American community, labor unions, and all of the 22 million jobless Americans under the bus.

    Mission

We believe it is time that members of Congress act to preserve economic opportunity for American workers – and pass immigration legislation that protects and supports the nearly 22 million American citizens who do not have jobs, or cannot find adequate employment to support their families. Economists report that labor participation in the U.S. is at its lowest rate in over 30 years.

Despite sluggish economic conditions, some in Congress have put forth immigration proposals to increase legal immigration levels by 50% and provide amnesty to over 11 million people who have entered the country illegally. We stand against these proposals, as they will result in adding millions more to the U.S. labor force, putting millions of American citizens out of work.

To help to stop Congress’ amnesty push, join the Black American Leadership Alliance for our march on Washington on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Freedom Plaza as we demand that our leaders reject amnesty, and pass immigration policies that put black Americans back to work.

    About Our March

Why the March to preserve American jobs for American workers?

We believe it is high time that members of Congress act to preserve economic opportunity for American workers – and pass immigration legislation that protects and supports the nearly 22 million American citizens who do not have jobs, or cannot find adequate employment to support their families.

Economists report that labor participation in the U.S. is at its lowest rate in over 30 years. Yet, despite these sluggish economic conditions, some in Congress have put forth immigration proposals to increase legal immigration levels by 50% and provide amnesty to over 11 million people who have entered the country illegally. We stand against these proposals, as they will result in adding millions more to the U.S. labor force, putting millions of American citizens out of work.
Over 22 million Americans are currently out of work or underemployed. All wage sectors, including low-skilled and high-skilled jobs are at risk from this legislation as big business asserts the need for more cheap laborers to do those mythical jobs “Americans won’t do.” Research continues to debunk this myth. As the Economic Policy Institute’s recent report reveals, there is not a talent shortage, but a jobs shortage.

If passed, the Gang of Eight’s proposed immigration bill will be costly for all Americans, but will harm black American workers more than any other group. Mass immigration and amnesty puts those poorest Americans from all walks of life out of work and suppresses wages, causing them to compete with aliens willing to work in poorer working conditions for cheaper pay.

When 22 million Americans are either out of work or unemployed, now is no time to further over-saturate the labor force with increased immigration levels and amnesty. If Congress doesn’t stop this irresponsible legislation, the United States will continue to see more and more Americans of all races out of jobs and on the streets.
To help stop Congress’ amnesty push, join the Black American Leadership Alliance for our march on Washington on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Freedom Plaza, as we demand that our leaders reject amnesty, enforce immigration laws as written, and support policies that put black U.S. citizens back to work.

    Who is Marching?

The Black American Leadership Alliance (BALA) has organized the march and rally along with community leaders of all races from around the country. Americans are coming together in Washington, DC to protect the quality of life and economic opportunities for those citizens among us who need it the most.

Long over due for our leaders to begin paying attention to the American Citizen Worker and stop pouring money into needless wars, outsourcing and shipping jobs to the third world, the question I always ask them when writing who do they represent.
I will watch this event with great interest as I want to see how media if any covers it.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.
