Border Patrol Agents Rescue Six Illegal Aliens Near Ocotillo

Ocotillo, Calif. – On July 31, air assets from the CBP Office of Air and Marine and Border Patrol agents worked together to rescue a group of six distressed illegal aliens who had been stranded in the mountains for several days.

The incident occurred at 12:00 a.m., after a helicopter from OAM spotted a group of six suspected illegal aliens in the mountains near Ocotillo. Border Patrol agents and El Centro Sector’s Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue Team were notified and responded immediately.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., agents from the El Centro station made contact with the group where emergency medical care was provided. It was later determined that each of the individuals were Mexican citizens who had entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico. After receiving treatment, the group was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing and further evaluation.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
