Border Patrol agents arrested four individuals last week suspected of illegally crossing the U.S. border north of Lynden and found one to be carrying about $218,000 in U.S. currency.

On February 16 at 6:15 p.m., border camera operators saw four individuals run south into the United States north of Lynden. Border Patrol agents based at the Sumas station tracked the individuals to a double-wide trailer 100 yards south of the border.

After getting permission from the property’s caretaker, agents entered the trailer and interviewed the occupants.

Three were found to be Mexican citizens illegally present in the U.S, while the fourth, a U.S. citizen, was found with a backpack containing $218,908 in U.S. currency.

Border Patrol agents seized the money and processed the citizens of Mexico for deportation back to their country.
