Border Patrol apprehends double homicide suspect at San Ysidro, Calif. crossing

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers apprehended a double homicide suspect at the San Ysidro PedWest crossing in San Diego this week.Pete Flores, the director of field operations for CBP in San Diego said, “CBP officers perform the crucial job of inspecting every person that enters the United States.” Jose Rubio, 23, is a United States citizen wanted for a double homicide in Los Angeles.

CBP agents responsible for maintaining the PedWest San Ysidro port of entry are required to check the identification of each individual to confirm they are crossing over legally.In the early morning hours, agents ran a routine check on Rubio’s California state identification card.

An active warrant for his arrest came up on the law enforcement database. Rubio’s identification was confirmed using his fingerprints.Flores is proud of the work these agents perform, stating, “Their work impacts not just those in our local border community, but communities across the nation. Because of their diligence, this man will now face the charges against him.”

After confirming Rubio’s identity, officers turned him over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Los Angeles Police Department set bail for Rubio at $3.5 million.
