Luis Miguel Maya-Barriga

CALEXICO, Calif. -

A dangerous gang member is behind bars after trying to get into the United States illegally.

The man arrested was Luis Miguel Maya-Barriga is a 32-year-old and a Mexican national.

Border agents arrested him three miles west of the Calexico port of entry. Maya-Barriga is an active member of the "Surenos 13" criminal street gang out of Santa Maria.

He has an extensive criminal history and was previously deported back on 2005.
