Border Patrol EMT: A Life Saving Asset

EDINBURG, Texas – Since Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued four subjects including one who suffering from a snakebite.

Yesterday morning, McAllen agents patrolling near La Joya, Texas, encountered a Mexican national suffering from a leg injury.

The man claimed a snake bit him in the leg and was experiencing severe pain. A Border Patrol Agent Emergency Medical Technician responded to the location and provided first aid to the man as they awaited Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Upon arrival, agents assisted EMS transfer the man into the ambulance and had him transported to a local medical facility for further treatment.

Additionally, since Wednesday, agents throughout the Rio Grande Valley Sector responded to three additional 911 calls for help that led to the rescue of three illegal aliens. Agents provided all subjects with basic medical attention and transported them for processing.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
