Border Patrol Reschedules Flights to California
Border Patrol Reschedules Flights to California
SAN DIEGO — Jun 27, 2014, 6:41 PM ET
The Border Patrol is rescheduling flights to bring Central American migrants from south Texas to California for processing.
Customs and Border Protection announced Friday that the agency plans to transport adults and children from the Rio Grande Valley to Laredo and El Paso in Texas, and San Diego and El Centro in Southern California.
Friday's announcement comes less than a week after the agency canceled the California flights. Officials released no further details.
The government has been struggling to cope with a surge of Central Americans entering south Texas' Rio Grande Valley. The Border Patrol has made more than 174,000 arrests there since Oct. 1.
Once the migrants are processed, Immigration and Customs Enforcement decides who can be released while awaiting deportation proceedings.

Protest held over immigrants coming to Murrieta
6:59 PM, Jun 29, 2014
MURRIETA, Calif. - About a couple dozen people protested outside the U.S. Border Patrol office in Murrieta on Sunday, upset that 140 undocumented immigrants, including many children, will be flown to San Diego and then bussed to Murrieta.
The protesters waved American flags and held up signs that read, "Stop illegal immigration."
A Border Patrol union representative told 10News that agents will be taken off the streets to process all the immigrants and that the holding facility has no showers and not enough room. Union officials say the immigrants will be overcrowded while they wait to get processed.
"It's a humanitarian crisis on top of a national security issue and so on and so forth, so it's bad all the way around," said protester Douglas Gibbs. "It's bad for us and it's bad for them."
This comes after a surge of undocumented and unaccompanied Central American children flooded into the United States through the Texas border.
"We get a lot of stories … social, political, economic reasons and the increase in violence," said child immigration advocate Elizabeth Camarena. "That is what we hear over and over and groups that said violence has sent me out or pushed me out."
10News was told the immigrants coming through San Diego are all "family groups." Another group of 140 will be brought to El Centro and another group will go to Yuma, Arizona. A Murrieta Border Patrol union spokesman says planes with 140 immigrants will be coming every three days.
Officials tell 10News immigrants are being spread out to different sectors to alleviate pressure on the stations on the front lines.
President Obama calls it a "humanitarian crisis." He has already requested $2 billion in emergency funding from Congress and in an exclusive interview with ABC's "This Week," he had this message for parents south of the border.
"Do not send your children to the border," he said. "If they do make it, they'll get sent back."

PLANE WITH 140 ILLEGAL ALIENS TO ARRIVE IN SAN DIEGO FOR RELOCATION
by ROBERT WILDE 30 Jun 2014, 11:05 AM PDT POST A COMMENT
On Tuesday, a plane full of illegal immigrants from Central America will fly into San Diego, where the passengers will be transported to Murrieta for processing and released into the general community.
According to ABC10 News, Ron Zermero, a Border Patrol Union representative, claims that the processing role that border agents are assuming is pulling them off the border. Consequently, it is allowing criminals to cross our southern border undetected. "As long as they send the (agents) up there to be processed, there will be no agents patrolling, and that's what the agency doesn't want me to say," he admitted.
Zermero claims that the Murrieta detaining facilities are not made to hold huge groups like the ones expected to arrive in about 24 hours.
The border patrol agent lamented that "Basically, these people are going to be sitting in the cells on benches and eating where someone is going to the bathroom."
10 News reported that 140 illegal immigrants are expected to arrive in San Diego, 140 will be arriving in El Centro, and yet another group will be brought to Yuma, Arizona. All of them will be screened and processed and then given money for bus fare. They are obligated to show up in immigration court within twenty days.
When Zermero was asked how many would show up in court, he laughed: "I think very few are going to show up in court, and from my understanding from sources in the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) office, their standing orders is not to pursue."
On Breitbart News Sunday, broadcast on Sirius XM Radio, border patrol agent Hector Garza told Executive News Chairman Stephen K. Bannon that 95% of the illegal aliens never show up at immigration court.

Murrieta Prepares for Arrival of Undocumented Immigrants From Texas
More than 52,000 unaccompanied children, most from Central America, have been apprehended entering the U.S. illegally since October
By Jonathan Lloyd
Monday, Jun 30, 2014 | Updated 11:33 AM PDT
The mayor of a Southern California community that will be the site of a processing center for undocumented immigrants discussed the process Monday and said the city is prepared to handle what he described as the result of a "failed system."
Murrieta Mayor Alan Long conducted a news conference Monday morning to talk about the plan that would transfer undocumented immigrants currently housed in Texas to the Murrieta border patrol office. The detainees, taken into custody after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into Texas, will be transported to San Diego before traveling by bus to southwest Riverside County.
The city was notified Friday afternoon that the detainees would be transferred to Murrieta, starting Tuesday, according to a statement on Long's Facebook page. He said the city remains opposed to the transfer, but city officials and law enforcement agencies will have "a plan in place" after meeting several times since Friday with U.S. Border Patrol officials.
"Clearly, this is a failed system that is spreading the cost and needed resources to handle these situations on the backs of local communities," Long said in statement. "Nevertheless, we must react and put a plan in place."
The Murrieta City Council will discuss the issue at its Tuesday meeting and a town hall meeting on the subject is scheduled for Wednesday, Long said. About two dozen residents showed up at the meeting with questions about the plan to process 140 people at the center.
"Murrieta will remain safe," said Long.
The transfer is part of the federal government's response to an influx of unaccompanied children across the U.S.-Mexico border. The detainee transfer will allow the U.S. Border Patrol in California to "assist in processing family units from South Texas," according to a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
"Most of the immigrants coming to our location have family members or friends throughout the United States, and that's where they're taking them," said Long.
More than 52,000 unaccompanied children, most from Central America, have been apprehended entering the U.S. illegally since October.
President Barack Obama has called the issue an "urgent humanitarian situation."
Republicans have criticized Obama's immigration policies, arguing they've left the impression that women and children from Central America will be allowed to stay in the United States. The administration has worked to send a clear message in recent weeks that new arrivals will be targeted for deportation. But immigrants arriving from those countries have said they are fleeing pervasive gang violence and crushing poverty.
The Border Patrol in South Texas has been overwhelmed for several months by an influx of unaccompanied children and parents traveling with young children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Unlike Mexican immigrants arrested after entering the U.S. illegally, those from Central America cannot be as easily returned to their countries.
The U.S. had only one family detention center in Pennsylvania, so most adults traveling with young children were released and told to check in with the local immigration office when they arrived at their destination. A new facility for families is being prepared in New Mexico.
Children who traveled alone are handled differently. By law, they must be transferred to the custody of the Health and Human Services Department within 72 hours of their arrest. From there, they are sent into a network of shelters until they can be reunited with family members while awaiting their day in immigration court.
