Breaking: Romney Supports Legal Status For Illegal Children

Was I not right from the very start on this candidate? I was called an Obama supporter by some for speaking the truth. He's essentially wanting to one up Obama with regards to illegal children.

Here ya go. Jump to 2:10 where he beings talking about the issue:

Here's the two key points in which Romney drops the ball:

Romney (at 2:35): "those ideas [i.e. Rubio's DREAM Act] being put forth by Marco Rubio should have been pursued *applause*"

Romney (at 3:50): "Marco Rubio was working on legislation... that said that kids that get higher education can become permanent residents of the United States"

Romney tell us what Rubio's plan entailed, legalizing the children's status, and he tells us at 2:35 that we should have pursued that plan. That'll be the base framework in which Romney will suggest Congress start with.

    Other quotes:
"these kids deserve something better than temporary [referring to Obama's action], they deserve a permanent solution and my view is that those ideas being put forth by Marco Rubio should have been pursued"

"[on Marco Rubio's proposal] kids that get higher education can become permanent residents of the United States"

"I will lead a program that gets us to a permanent solution" by working with Democrats and Republicans

Now if I am somehow misinterpreting everything he's said here, that he in no way is proposing giving illegal children legal status, please point me in the right direction because I am obviously too simple minded to see Romney's big picture.

What he is doing and saying on that video is disgusting and contrary to what he promised us about illegals leaving the country. Im afraid Romney is blowing it!

Nothing new here. While he said he would provide a permanent solution, he didn't say he would provide them amnesty. Actually the host asked him twice if he would allow the illegals to stay and he refused to respond to her direct question. He also said we would not round everyone up and deport them. Nothing new there either. He has all along supported self deportation. Take their jobs and means for survival and many of them will leave. Very few politicians have ever came out and said they supported rounded all the illegals up and shipping them out in cattle cars. Offering a path to legalization for illegals that serve in the military is nothing new either. I don't agree with it but it's not new .... he's been saying that for months. You seem to think you hit the jackpot here, googler, but I don't see anything new. Furthermore, I have a serious problem with only seeing part of the interview ....... where's the rest of it?

By the way, when did this interview take place?

Actually, after watching the video again, it was very clear that Romney was purposely failing to answer her questions directly. In other words he was being very evasive. In view of the crowd he was speaking in front of, I think that was a good thing. He stuck to his guns and really didn't offer them what the host was obviously wanting.

    Excerpt:

When Diaz-Balart then asked what happens in a Romney administration to the hundreds of thousands who would benefit from the Obama program, Romney responded: "Well, I'm going to put in place an immigration reform proposal that makes sure that they have a solution."
Would that mean dreamers get deported, Diaz -Balart asked, to which Romney replied: "Well, they're -- they're -- they're not deported immediately today. And -- and that's not, that has not been the practice. My practice is to make sure these people have a permanent understanding and a solution to this issue."
Under fire on immigration, Romney vows 'reasonable solution' - CNN.com

I have to give Romney a lot of credit. He is obviously under tremendous pressure from the Hispanic's to give direct answers to what his plans are but he refuses to give them what they're looking for. Googler, you're only looking at this from one point of view. Perhaps you should open your eyes to the other possibilities. The reason Romney is being very evasive may be a very good thing for us. Obviously the Latino community is extremely frustrated with the Romney campaign because they aren't getting what they are demanding and wanting from him!

Oh, and I hope the moderators change your story title: Breaking: Romney Supports Legal Status For Illegal Children

because in the whole scheme of things it's not exactly accurate. Sure, he has said he would offer a path to permanent status for those serving in the military but that's it.

Sorry MW, your defending him will no longer work. It's becoming hilarious to watch though so keep it up.

Moderators, please keep the title as it is.

It is very easy he is looking for Hispanic votes, he is saying what they want to hear. None president will give an Immigration Reform, the country had the bad experience of Reagan's amnesty in 1986 the lesson was if a group of illegal aliens is legalized it would promote that too many people will come here illegally. After the 1986 amnesty 12 million of illegal aliens has settled in the country waiting for another amnesty. Another amnesty will be a disaster.

Illegal immigration is a serious problem compared to a virus or a plague if we don't fight it on time the consequences would be catastrophic.

Bill G. - Watch the video again. Romney is purposely evading the questions, cleverly, while bashing Obama repeatedly. He also infuriated the Left tonight by twice calling illegal aliens...ILLEGAL ALIENS. He was blasted as a racist on Twitter for hours for doing that. See here: Romney refers to illegal aliens as ‘illegal aliens’ at Univision forum | Twitchy
