BSU immigration march sponsored by Racist Organization

I was shocked when I picked up last Thursday’s Arbiter and saw the giant headline screaming at me in Spanish. Spanish? Was the Arbiter now being published in a foreign language, the latest victim of the anti-American “multi-cultural” and “diversity” movements? To my relief, I realized only the headline was foreign.

I could read in good old American English the story of how Boise State students protested immigration reform along the recently renamed Cesar Chavez Lane (Ironically enough, in 1969, the infamous socialist labor organizer marched along the border to protest illegal immigration, which was cutting the wages of his farm workers).

“I don’t believe in borders,” The Arbiter quoted one protester, Kimberly Buringrude, as saying. Of course borders are wrong. Why would we want to keep criminals, terrorists, drug dealers and dirty illegal aliens out of our country?

Worse than the idiocy displayed by some of the protesters is the insidious agenda of one of the student organizations that sponsored the event. Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA), which translates to Chicano Student Movement of Aztlán, is a student organization with chapters at universities and high schools nationwide. What are their members’ aims?

To quote from El Plan De Aztlán, the guiding document of MEChA since its formation in the late 1960s, “Brotherhood unites us, and love for our brothers makes us a people whose time has come and who struggles against the foreigner gabacho who exploits our riches and destroys our culture. With our heart in our hands and our hands in the soil, we declare the independence of our mestizo nation.”

That’s right, these racist Neo-Nazis want to “liberate” by force what they call a “mestizo nation” – they have outlined how they plan a revolution to seize the southwestern portion of the Unites States of America, and turn it into the Chicano country of Aztlán. I said racist, because these radical revolutionaries want to establish a nation without Americans, Africans, Europeans, or Asians – only Chicanos will be allowed. Their slogan is “Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada,” which translates to “For the Race, everything, for those outside of the Race, nothing.” How chilling.

Even more sick and twisted is MEChA’s plan to incorporate Hispanic gangs in their revolution. Section 5 of El Plan De Aztlán says that “For the young there will no longer be acts of juvenile delinquency, but revolutionary acts.” Imagine a country in which gang violence against non-Chicanos is legal and encouraged. Just hope your grandkids aren’t living in Arizona when the ethnic cleansing begins.

I suppose it’s good for diversity at BSU to have a student organization with such a blatantly racist agenda. The Klu Klux Klan all retreated to Arkansas, the Hitler Youth are extinct, and the Aryan Nations are hiding in the woods up in Sandpoint. Some organization had to step up to carry the banner of bigotry, racism, hatred and treason.

Speaking of treason, isn’t it against the law for BSU to fund organizations that call for the overthrow of America? Ah, never mind. We know “diversity” and “multi-culturalism” comes before the law or the welfare of our country.

I think our government should seriously investigate groups like La Raza, MALDEF and those Nazi, Marxists and other groups like this....

Heck, I read a few months ago, our Senators alloted money to La Raza...I emailed my Senator and asked for an explanation, he never answered...

A lot of things should be investigated....tax dollars ripped off us, for what?

Honestly, it already has been investigated. They know what they are dealing with. If we can get these articles and news releases imagine what they have in their files?

I cannot not answer why they are allowing it to happen. But bet your bottom dollar they know all about these groups and their agenda's.

Guests and gallery slam Senator Sawmiller

    By Dustin Lapray

    April 24, 2006

Associated Students of Boise State University Jonathan Sawmiller received repeated negative feedback and declarations for a need for a public apology to members of MEChA, the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlan, for comments he made in an opinion piece printed in The Arbiter Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the ASBSU, meeting Thursday.

Fernando Mejia, a political science major at Boise State and member of MEChA, was one of four senate guests to ask Sawmiller to apologize for his comments. Mejia attended a rally on the quad Thursday to show the need for diversity on campus, then spotted the editorial by Sawmiller.

“Senator Sawmiller’s article goes against everything diversity stands for,” Mejia said. “How dare you! I am really pissed off. You need to inform yourself as to what MEChA is all about.”

In his article, Sawmiller called the national organization and hence also the recently established BSU club (the 200th student organization) racist “Neo-Nazis.”

“We demand a public apology for being called Neo-Nazis,” Mejia said. “Sawmiller soils this office. We are citizens of this world. There are no human beings who are illegal. We deserve respect.”

Senate Pro Tempore Greg Wilson allowed Sen. Sawmiller to respond to his accuser at the podium in the Forum.

“I will not stand by and apologize for what I believe is true, what the evidence proves to be true,” Sawmiller said. “People who break laws are committing illegal acts. You can try to censor me if you want, but I have a hard time believing that a group which preaches the need for freedoms would want to disable the freedom of speech. I refuse to apologize.”

Mario Aguirre, a member of Men of Vision, another BSU club, also asked for a public apology from Sawmiller.

As did Jessi Winn, a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society. “Look at me when I am talking to you Mr. Sawmiller,” Winn said. Sawmiller had everted his eyes and was looking away from the podium where Winn stood.

“I am sickened by the thought that you are a representative of ASBSU and of the entire student body. I am here to tell you that you do not represent me Mr. Sawmiller. And unless you change your ways, you never will.”

Adrienne Wright, another member of Phi Alpha agreed. “As a representative, I know I must represent ALL people,” Wright said. “I hope you can learn that too.”

Lamin Kinteh, the President of the International Students Organization, was one of two members of the gallery whom spoke against Sawmiller and again asked for a public apology.

Alex Daw, the Political Chair of BGLAD, also spoke out against Sawmiller and the entire senate.

“You’ve been on a roll,” Daw said. “You’ve barely done anything yet and you’ve pissed off a lot of people. I see that smirk on your face (to Sen. Sawmiller). You may be looking for attention. You got it. If you want a war on your hands, you’ll get one. We’re watching you.”

Daw later said that he was inferring a political war and meant no actual modes of violence toward anyone on the senate.

Sen. Mary Dawson clarified the situation, since the entirety of the accusations were directed at Sen. Sawmiller.

“I would like to note that the comments made by Senator Sawmiller do not represent the opinions of the entire senate, only those of Senator Sawmiller,” Dawson said.

The matter then closed, but at the end of the meeting, Sen. Wilson said that he would not stand for any acts of violence on campus and would call in security measures to stop such actions from taking place.

“I accept everyone’s opinions,” Wilson said. “But I will not tolerate violence as an answer. I will not be accepting violence or threats of violence to the Senate, of the Senate or by the Senate. I am very disturbed by some of the comments made by the gallery. To me, this constitutes a security threat.”

The Senate meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:40 p.m. in the Student Union Forum.
