Stacey Aguilar homicide: Accused and friend rolled San Jose woman's body down a canyon in Fremont, according to court records

HAYWARD -- A man charged in the slaying of his San Jose girlfriend shot her and then, with the help of a friend, rolled her body down a hill on Morrison Canyon Road in Fremont, according to court documents.

Esmid Valentine Pedraza, 23, of unincorporated Hayward, was formally charged with murder on Friday by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office in the death of Stacey Xanthe Aguilar. He was arraigned Friday afternoon but did not enter a plea.

Pedraza, Aguilar and Donato Perez, 24, went to a house party on Silva Avenue in Hayward on Feb. 13, according to court documents. Pedraza and Aguilar went out to Pedraza's car about 1 a.m. Perez told police he heard several gunshots and went to the car, where he saw Pedraza holding a gun.

Pedraza told Perez he had shot and killed Aguilar, according to court documents.

After dumping Aguilar's body, the two men then washed Pedraza's car, the documents say.

Perez admitted he helped dispose of Aguilar's belongings, including her ID card, a credit/debit card and cellphone, according to the documents. He also disposed of his own bloody clothes, the documents say.

Perez was arrested Thursday in Oakland on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.

Pedraza appeared in the Hayward courtroom Friday afternoon in white jail clothes. In a holding cell behind glass, he looked around the courtroom as Judge Scott Patton read him his charge of murder.

Perez, in red jail clothes, had his bail set at $500,000, higher than the typical $20,000 for the charge of accessory. The judge agreed to raise bail given the nature of the crime and after a prosecutor said he could be of risk of leaving the country, since he is not a U.S. citizen and does not have much family in the area.

Pedraza was already in custody on an immigration hold when he was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of fatally shooting Aguilar, 22, authorities said. He was earlier arrested by Alameda County Sheriffs deputies after finding blood in his car.

Pedraza, who was charged in a Hayward courtroom, is reportedly an undocumented immigrant. He also has a criminal past: He was convicted of a DUI in Alameda County in 2013, with a blood alcohol level of 0.11. The legal limit is 0.08.

Jesus Juarez, whose wife is cousins with Pedraza, said that Pedraza is a good young father. He has a daughter who is about 1, he said.

"He's a good guy," he said. "It's tragic what happened."

Juarez said the family is shocked by the accusations. The family didn't even know Pedraza was supposedly dating Aguilar, as he never brought her around to any family functions, he said.

He last saw Pedraza about a month ago at a family gathering at his house in Hayward. He described Pedraza as a typical, young man who went to parties and clubs and had fun.

"This just doesn't sound like him," Juarez said.

Juarez said Pedraza doesn't have a lot of family in the area, as they are mostly in Mexico. When told of Perez' alleged involvement in the murder, Juarez said he had never heard of the name before.

If Pedraza is released from jail, immigration authorities want to take him into custody.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued the following statement: "U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a formal request with the Alameda County Jail seeking to have the jail notify ICE before Mr. Pedraza's release so the agency can arrange to take him into custody to pursue possible follow-up immigration enforcement action."

Maybe in your country Pedraza is a typical young guy, but not here and there is nothing good about him.

Pedraza is a worthless piece of scum and he's lucky I am not the judge because he would never see the light of day again.

They all have anchor babies for the purpose of being able to stay in the country.
I've seen time & time again a disregard for the toddlers.

It is appalling our country is being filled with men that have no consideration for women other than to make babies. Where are the feminist groups? Are they afraid to speak out @ this wrong direction? Or are they too busy denouncing Mr Trump in their desire for a Democrat winner?
