Calif. compromise on licenses may have nat'l implications

An organization advocating legal immigration says California's driver's license law for illegal immigrants will impact other states.

Illegal immigrants in California who are now allowed to obtain driver's licenses under a new state law may have difficulty presenting documents proving their residency or identification. Those who can apply for licenses include individuals from rural villages who have no birth certificate, or day laborers with no address to prove residency in the state.

The problem is that many of these individuals have lost their documentation. In lieu of that, illegal immigrants now are asking the Department of Motor Vehicles to accept other forms of identification such as school ID cards, church records, and immunization papers.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), is concerned about the effect that compromise could have around the country.
"It's going to create an incentive for other states to follow their lead to match them," says Gheen. "And even if states don't follow their lead, we are going to have illegal immigrants with California licenses driving around all across America."

The law signed by Gov. Jerry Brown notes that licenses for illegal aliens will have a mark that differentiates them from regular licenses.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles is hiring roughly 1,000 more employees to handle driver's license applications from illegal immigrants beginning in 2015.

"It's very clear that those who are pushing licenses for illegal immigrants and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, which are two important building blocks to their invasion, that they have no interest in using these technologies for immigration enforcement," Gheen warns.

Huge magnet for illegal aliens and as William notes, this just leads to copycat legislation. Tennessee did this in years past and drew tens of thousands of illegal aliens to the state and illegal immigration exploded. Waiting lines at the DMV could be hours as illegal aliens were bused and transported to the stations. They finally ceased the stupidity, however illegal aliens remained. Now progressive Tennessee Republicans, lead by Senator Todd Gardenhire (Chattanooga, TN), are pushing for another magnet, in state tuition, for illegal aliens and dependents of illegal aliens.

They don't need 1,000 more employees at DMV, they need a 1,000 more police officers to help handle the violence erupting here in California. Here in the Central Valley car chase's are becoming the norm. Just tonight 30 CHP, and Police Officers and Helicopters chased a armed robber from Madera to Modesto ending up in a residental area by a church and school. It is nothing for these high speed chases to go from city to city. Robberies, Home Invasions and Gang Violence all involving guns, body armor and even machetes. No longer feeling safe or being able to rely on the MSM residents follow on their phones and computers a local news website and the police scanner to get the latest updates as to whether they are safe to leave their homes or enter an area.

New Mexico has been giving licenses to illegal aliens for many years. (Since 2003 I think.)
California doesn't start until Jan 2015.
So how is it that New Mexico isn't "creating an incentive for other states to follow their lead to match them,"?
Or the 8 other states and D.C. who are already giving licenses to illegal aliens before CA. even starts?

According to the National Immigration Law Center, 11 states and Puerto Rico have passed measures that allow undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses. In Minnesota, a measure has passed one chamber of its legislature, and 10 other states have introduced similar proposals this session.
