The hospitals have a large portion of the blame - they do not treat and stabilize, they provide total care to illegals who are not really unstable - a cold, etc. I have seen a pregnant woman sign in the ER for a check up on a Sunday afternoon because her baby's father is probably working other times and it is convenient for them to have 24 hour service.

She should have been shown the exit door and told to go to her OB for a check up or the county Health Department. And those with problems not extreme enough for ERs should be sent to urgent care clinics. If they don't have the money then too bad.

Prenatal care for illegals is taxpayer funded most of the time. This is non-emergency care that is provided to them with no questions asked. The records are then forwarded to the hospital in preparation for the birth of the new anchor child. The anchor baby situation as it exists today is a result of providing billions of dollars of free non emergency care to people with no regard to their legal status in this country.
