DALLAS, TX (The Dallas Morning News) – Two Dallas men face multiple charges after authorities say they attempted to flee Garland police in a stolen pickup Wednesday morning.

Luis Gerardo Ruiz and Jose Oscar Garcia, both 29, were taken into custody after the chase.
Officers responded about 11 a.m. to a report of a stolen Chevrolet pickup in the 1200 block of High Meadow Drive.

With help from a Texas Department of Safety helicopter, officers located the pickup in Rowlett. Police say Ruiz, who was at the wheel, drove away when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, initiating a pursuit.

During the chase, one Garland police vehicle became disabled after the pickup hit it.

The vehicle stopped in the 200 block of East Kingsbridge Drive in Garland, where both occupants attempted to run but were apprehended after a short foot chase.

Ruiz is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest in a vehicle, aggravated assault against a peace officer and possession of methamphetamine.
Garcia is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and evading arrest.

Police said the pair may face additional charges for involvement in other Garland crimes.
