Church leaders want to tone down rhetoric on immigration

DENVER - Colorado's Roman Catholic bishops on Saturday called for a "cooling down" period on debate over immigration reform, saying the issue is too hot for reasonable measures that will respect immigrants' human rights.
The move is part of the Catholic church's Justice for Immigrants campaign, calling for comprehensive state and national reforms.
But before that can happen, Archbishop Charles Chaput of the Archdiocese of Denver said, church and government leaders must engage in a discussion with each other and with broader society to decide on principles to underlie reforms.
"This is not a Catholic issue for us," he said. "We are educating about a social issue and a human rights issue...We want to do our part in solving these problems so human rights can be respected everywhere."
Chaput, Colorado Springs Bishop Michael Sheridan and Pueblo Bishop Arthur Tafoya said they have begun a series of town hall meetings around the state to educate people about the church's teachings on social justice and how they apply to immigration.
Chaput also said he was concerned about a proposed November ballot initiative that would prohibit most government services for illegal immigrants.
"We want Catholics to understand it and be prepared to vote for it to according to Catholic teachings. We don't like the direction it is going," Chaput saidJoin our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

When the Catholic church supplied buses for the march in Chicago they have gone a bridge too far. They are beyond rhetoric and into aiding and abetting 'immigrants' as they call them. They should be punished accordingly. The catholic church is not above the law just because they have the word 'church' in their name.
I'm wondering what stake the catholic church has by inviting millions of parasites to move into and colonize a previously settled country???

The Catholic Church does not consider itself excused from the law because it has "church" in it's name. The Catholic Church consider themselves the sole legitimate manifestation of God on Earth. "How dare you assume that democracy trumps the divine revelation"
A higher proprtion of recent immigrants are Catholic rather than Protestant. The Catholics are the largest denomination but the majority of Americans are in the numerous smaller Protestant denominations. Its a no brainer for the Church your taxes which are probably Protestant become Catholic assistance.I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well.
