Silverthorne man faces child sexual assault charges

A Silverthorne (CO) man is being held on $100,000 bond at Summit County jail on suspicion of felony child sexual assault charges.
Francisco Fuentes Godinez, 41, was arrested on Wednesday, March 12, after emergency room doctors at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center called the Silverthorne Police Department to investigate a possible sexual assault of a 9-year-old.

Upon the officers’ arrival, doctors told them the victim was displaying symptoms consistent with a sexually transmitted disease, according to the warrantless arrest affidavit.

During an interview with representatives from the department of social services, the victim described occasions, dating back more than a year, in which she was allegedly assaulted by Godinez, according to court records.

Bond was set at $100,000 at the recommendation of the Silverthorne Police Department, stating in the arrest affidavit that Godinez is a flight risk, given his undocumented status in the country and the fact that his wife and child still live in Mexico, according to court records.

The investigation is ongoing, as Silverthorne police officers have been advised that there may be four more potential victims, records stated.

Godinez is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, for a pretrial hearing in Summit County Court.
