Cocaine dealer sentenced to nearly 19 years

    By Gerald Witt
    Staff Writer
GREENSBORO -- An illegal immigrant has been sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison for selling cocaine and possessing guns in the largest cocaine bust in Rockingham County history.

Edgar Flores Tito, 24, of Reidsville, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court on two counts stemming from the drug bust in 2005.

He admitted trying to sell 11 kilograms of cocaine to an undercover Rockingham County sheriff's deputy in March 2005, according to court documents that were part of his guilty plea.

Tito was also sentenced for possessing guns in conjunction with drugs and selling more than 800 kilograms of marijuana -- which was added with the cocaine for a combined drug sentence.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge William Osteen sentenced Tito to 18 years, nine months in prison.

After serving time, Tito will be turned over to customs agents, most likely for deportation. Then, he'll be under five years of supervised release, meaning he can't return to the United States in that period.

After that five years, "that does not mean that you can come back," Osteen said. Tito would have to enter the country legally next time, Osteen said.

Tito had been in the country for five years before his arrest. He worked a part-time job. In the past two years he began selling drugs, his attorney, Wayne Harrison, said.

Michael Wayne Isley, 49, of Reidsville, helped arrange the drug transaction on the morning of Tito's arrest.

Isley had been under investigation by Rockingham County sheriff's deputies since December 2004, according to court documents.

Between January and March 2005, Isley had stored, sold and distributed guns, prescription drugs, cocaine, about 3,000 pounds of marijuana and more than $26,000 in counterfeit money to undercover agents and others, according to the documents.

At 6 a.m. March 31, 2005, law enforcement set up the cocaine deal at Shiloh Airport and arrested the two men. A later search found 377 pounds of marijuana at Isley's house, along with several guns. Tito's mobile home was searched, uncovering two more guns, according to documents.

Sheriff's deputies called it the largest cocaine bust in the county's history.

Tito rented the mobile home from Isley for two years, U.S. Attorney Kearns Davis, who prosecuted the case, said Tuesday.

In court documents Isley said that Tito was one of his largest cocaine suppliers and that a larger group of "Mexicans," as Isley termed them in the documents, had used Isley's shop to unload drugs.

Isley was sentenced to 24 years in prison in November. He pleaded guilty to eight counts, including selling marijuana, conspiracy to sell cocaine, dealing counterfeit money and using guns with drug deals.

    Tito's time came Tuesday.

"I did commit the crime," Tito told Osteen through a Spanish language translator. Tito then asked for mercy in his sentence.

Osteen asked why he should receive any. "Family," Tito replied, referring to his wife and two children.

Osteen said Tito did not seem to have mercy for the people and families who bought drugs from him.

"You were supplying drugs," Osteen said. "Were you doing something to help them be healthful?"

Tito could have received a maximum sentence of 21 years, 10 months for the charges. He will have to pay $100 for each charge, or $200, which he'll earn while in prison.

    Who is in control?

Actually he was selling for the administration as they have been bought and paid for by his brother Fox and Mexican drug cartels. Who do you think also gave them my and other veteran's and active duty troop's personal information?
