WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two U.S. House members who chair powerful committees will hold a joint hearing this week on Mexican drug cartels.

Congressmen Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the Homeland Security Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, and Connie Mack (R-Fla.), who chairs the Foreign Affairs Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, will convene the joint hearing Tuesday on U.S. efforts to fight the cartels.

The hearing will address the evolution of drug cartels, the threats of insurgency and terrorist tactics, and a need to update U.S. policy, including designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
