Middletown man pleads guilty to illegally re-entering the country

HARTFORD — A city man has admitted to re-entering this country illegally after he was deported in 1975.

Ramon Salamanca- Sarabia, also known as Eloy Ztetina, 56, pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Valnessa L. Bryant, to one count of illegal re-entry by a removed alient, according to information released from David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Salamanca-Sarabia is a citizen of El Salvador and was most recently residing in Middletown.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Salamanca-Sarabia was deported from the United States to his native El Salvador in 1975. He then illegally reentered the U.S. without first obtaining the consent of the Attorney General of the United States or his successor, the Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, to reapply for admission into the United States.

After illegally reentered the U.S., he began using the identity “Eloy Zetina.â€
