Lawmakers are expected to make a crucial vote at the Roundhouse on Friday on driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.

Gov. Susana Martinez wants to ban licenses for people who are in the country illegally.

But Democrats say the bill won’t pass without some kind of compromise.

They’ve pushed for changes that include stricter residency requirements and tougher penalties for fraud.

The governor says she won’t sign such a compromise.

The House Judiciary had planned to vote on the bill Wednesday, but it was delayed after hours of debate.
