Does Amnesty Mean More Taxation without Representation?

On December 16, 1773 150 men who called themselves the “Sons of Liberty” went to Boston Harbor, boarded three British ships and then proceeded to throw forty-five tons of the ships’ cargo into the waters. That cargo was tea and their measures were dubbed “The Boston Tea Party”.

The reason for this action was a “tea tax” that had been imposed on the American colonists. The British East India Company had huge stocks of tea that it couldn’t sell in England. So, instead of the company being forced into the real threat of going out of business, the British government decided to sell the tea to the colonists and tack on an inflated tax to help the company survive. Even with the tea taxation, the British government’s sponsorship and subsidizing of the company allowed it to sell tea at a lower cost than American merchants—who had been smuggling tea in from Holland. However, it also forced the British East India Company onto the colonists as a monopoly. They were told they could buy no tea from anyone else. The American-to-the-core colonists didn’t like that. They rebelled and fought back.

This was the proverbial “last straw”, culminating years of the then British government not providing representation to the American colonists. The colonists had sent goods from the “Americas” to England but, the British government viewed them as subjects and provided no real and viable representation to the colonies. Instead, they were advised by King George III that the minor self-government Massachusetts had enjoyed was, for all intents and purposes, over. Instead, British troops were quartered in the colonist’s homes to ensure that British rule was enforced. Americans would now be forced to pay taxes for a British-only item—tea—they had previously boycotted and would no longer have any voice in Parliament.

We-the-people are now faced with another forced ruling from the government. This time, however, it is coming from our elected officials in Washington DC. Elected Senators are not listening to their constituents—US citizens. Illegal entry into the US is, and has been, against the law—hence the word “illegal”. This illegal entry has been occurring, largely unchecked, for decades. The excuse given has been and remains “the illegals are doing jobs Americans won’t do”. This statement is a patent lie. The truth is that the illegals are working for far-less money than Americans will accept. The US Senate is not listening to “we-the-people” anymore. They are, however, listening to the Lobby groups of employers who want the system of allowing illegals to continue to cross our borders to remain in place. Cheap labor, wherever it comes from, is still cheap labor.

Overwhelmingly, American citizens have told the Senate that they want the continuing tide of illegals entering across our Southern border to be stopped. Instead, the Senate proposes amnesty (couched in the verbiage “path to citizenship”) for illegals. The illegal influx has created an environment in the Southwestern states that has led to the failure of multiple hospitals that are no longer able to continue to provide free healthcare to the illegal aliens who cannot pay. City and county services are being strained by services to illegals. The Senate turns a blind eye and a deaf ear to these problems.

OTMs (other than Mexicans), many of whom are terrorists (some already arrested at the Texas US-Mexico border), are entering the country. Paying no attention to any danger to America and its citizens, the US Senate gutted the House of Representatives’ Border Protection, Anti-terrorism and Illegal Immigration Control Act (HR 4437); removing the section that called for building a protective fence along the border region. This sends us the strong and unmistakable message that the US Senate refuses to protect the country—but wants to continue the status quo—against the desires and vocalizations of both we native and naturalized US citizens. Yet, we are supposed to accept their decisions and act like ‘good little subjects’. Is this really what they expect us to do? Are you willing to continue to pay your taxes for no protections to our country and, then, to pay for illegal entrants? If anything ever amounted to “taxation without representation”, this does!

Most certainly, those illegal immigrants who have lived in the US for many years, via the auspices of a feckless US Congress, should be given different treatment than those who continue—even now—to cross our border illegally. But, this unbridled invasion must stop now!

More “protest marches” of illegals, many of whom are now becoming militant and are screaming that the United States doesn’t belong to US citizens, are already planned. They are also, along with their radical sponsors MEChA, Mexica Movement, LULAC and International ANSWER, demanding their “rights”. What rights? Under the US Constitution, illegals HAVE no rights. Will the Senate’s next step be to gut the US Constitution—completely?

The real questions are: “Are US citizens ready to do anything about it—really do something to make a difference? Or will we just sit back and let the irrevocable dissolution of our county occur?” Many have said that we are too complacent and will agree to let the country go to our new Kings in the Senate and the illegals. Is that your position? It isn’t mine.

it isn't mine either. This is about more than 'immigration' -- this is about living under a dictatorship where the voices of the people are not heard.

PLEASE contact your governor and demand that action be taken -- I need everyone to rally the troops.

I went to Montgomery last month and met with a member of the governor's staff. I have made several requests of the governor for states rights and the rights of the citizens, but so far nothing has been done. You know how it goes, you get ignored until they are put on the hot seat -- right now I'm working on a seat warmer -- we will get his attention.

This is going to get nasty before it gets better -- get provisions and hold tight. Once the eye of this hurricane goes over, the winds will shift in the opposite direction and is more damaging to what's left in its path than the initial wind.

p.s., I was thinking about this 'no taxation without representation' this morning too. What IF, all American's didn't send in their taxes on April 15th . . . there would be a penalty, but it would not be as bad as being lead around by Congress . . . the illegals want to cause economic harm, well the American people can do far more damage to the federal government than they can

If the penalty was similar to what the Senate wants to impose on illegals, it would be a $2000 fine, but then we would not have to pay the back taxes due or any future taxes. In fact now that I think about it, if any amnesty passes, we could withhold taxes, and if the IRS goes after anyone, file suit against the government for "unequal protection" under the 14th Amendment, since foreign criminals were rewarded for breaking the law but Americans are not.

Actually, this type of case could be filed right now for any laws that are not applied uniformly to illegals compared to Americans.
