Dozens attend orientation on immigration reform programs

    Antwan Harris // Eyewitness News 8:14 p.m. CDT June 13, 2015

NEW ORLEANS -- Dozens from the Hispanic community came to Warren Easton High School's auditorium to hear how two government programs will affect their lives in the near future.

The first applies to children who came to the U.S. very young by immigrant parents, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Under the program these parents and youth may be granted a type of temporary permission to stay in the U.S. called "deferred action."

The other is known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) and this applies to immigrant parents of legal U.S. citizens.

Altogether, these programs are expected to help up to 4.4 million people, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Rep. Richmond said, "Considering 1 out of 16 people in Louisiana are either Latino or Asian, we wanted to make sure they know their rights and other things"

Congressman Luis Gutiérrez joined Richmond and is recognized for addressing issues impacting immigrant communities.

He played an instrumental role in pushing for President Barack Obama to help expand both programs, an effort he says helps keep families together.

Richmond says immigrant communities have been preyed upon or taken advantage of for labor uses. He says the goal is to protect as many immigrants as possible.

"We want them to know their rights and they can empower their families and they can do better. what we know is the american dream is the dream for everybody in the world. the people here, we should help them achieve that dream."

Cedric Richmond, what in the hell are you doing? Are you nuts? Insane? Wacko?

    Listen to your own crap:

Richmond says immigrant communities have been preyed upon or taken advantage of for labor uses. He says the goal is to protect as many immigrants as possible.

"We want them to know their rights and they can empower their families and they can do better. what we know is the american dream is the dream for everybody in the world. the people here, we should help them achieve that dream."
Honest to God, what is wrong with you? It is not the "immigrants" being preyed upon in Louisiana or anywhere else. It's black Americans, who are being cheated and displaced, underemployed and unemployed, in Louisiana and throughout our country because of the "immigrants" you're trying to help.

Louisiana, wake up, throw this moron out of office and elect someone who will go to DC and stand up for American citizens in your state, especially black citizens who need help the most .... don't forget .... the world saw them during Katrina, so we know they're there, we know of all the people who were able to get out of New Orleans during Katrina, there were tens of thousands of black Americans who couldn't and what did your state do? Locked them up in a Convention Center for almost a week with no power, no toilets, no water, no food, no lights .... THESE are the people who need help, not a bunch of illegal aliens who all they need is to be told to go home to their own countries where they belong.

Exactly! So why is our stupid corrupt government handing out our money and benefits to people who aren't entitled to them and telling employers who hire them "atta boy"?

Who is paying Gutierrez for all of these trips and speaking engagements? Isn't representing Americans and the citizens of his district as a U.S. Congressman supposed to be a full time job?

Well, Congress is not supposed to be a full time job, never was and shouldn't be. These people are supposed to have normal lives and businesses and jobs back home, which they take time out from to serve our citizens as Representatives and Senators. But they work part-time, some of the time or all of the time, they were never supposed to spend any of their time or our money representing the interests of foreigners in our country in violation of US immigration law, which is a direct breach of the inherent fiduciary obligation they have to represent the best interests of American citizens and the United States.

    Excerpt:

Today, members of the House and Senate get paid $174,000 a year for their public service. I’m not sure if anyone really knows how much more they make in perks and privileges, but it does run into the thousands of dollars. Paying congressmen and senators to be fulltime politicians has only resulted in a gluttonous government that suffers from all of the side effects of being oversized and out of control.

Like it or not, they are now full-time employees.

Isn't it racist to only want to help latinos and asians? Shouldn't other races know their rights and other things? And what are the other things they need to know? I bet the answer to that question is how to take advantage of the US so they can have more freebies that we pay for.
