Efforts to Recall Arizona Governor, State Senator Gain Momentum

PHOENIX - A former Republican candidate for Governor in 2010's primary has joined the effort to recall Jan Brewer.
Matt Jette, who recently became a registered Democrat, has been named the spokesman for the Committee to Recall Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.
The group is trying to collect thousands of signatures statewide by May 28 to force a recall election.
A Chandler woman, who is a Republican, launched the grassroots effort in January.
The group says the state is headed in the wrong direction and it disagrees with the Governor's cuts to health care and education.
Jette, who is a transplant recipient himself, admits his group faces an uphill battle in unseating Brewer.
"I think any recalls going to be a long shot, I mean politically speaking, it doesn't happen very often and there's a reason why it doesn't happen very often. After all, we need 432,000 signatures in about a 100 daysm right, so yeah, that is a long shot, but again, you don't do things because it's easy, you do things because they're right," said Jette.
The committee is seeking donations and volunteers to circulate petitions.
Governor Brewer's office is not commenting on the recall drive.
An effort to recall Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce apparently has a little more momentum.
Since the group Arizonans for Better Government filed paperwork in January, it's gotten more than 1,500 signatures. It needs just over 7,700 by the end of May to force a recall election.
Pearce is being targeted for his stance on immigration issues.
Senator Pearce did not respond to our requests seeking comment.

They had better check to nmake sure that all of their signatures are from legal citizens and have the legal right to make demands on the State.

PHOENIX - A committee seeking to force a recall election for Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has filed signature petitions, but they reportedly fall far short of the number needed.
Secretary of State spokesman Matt Roberts says the Committee to Recall Arizona Governor Jan Brewer late Friday filed what it said are petitions bearing 37,500 signatures.
The group needed to file 432,021 voter signatures to force an election.
Roberts says the Secretary of State's Office will review the petition to verify the number of signatures.
Saturday was the deadline to file petitions for the campaign launched on Jan. 28.
