Employer pleads guilty to harboring illegal alien cop killer

    I.C.E. News Release
    October 5, 2009

Employer pleads guilty to harboring illegal alien who killed Houston PD officer

HOUSTON - The employer of an illegal alien convicted of capital murder for the shooting death of Houston Police Department (HPD) Officer Rodney Johnson pleaded guilty on Monday to harboring that same illegal alien following an investigation by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Investigations in Houston and the HPD.

Robert Lane Camp, 47, the owner of Camp Landscaping in Deer Park, Texas, pleaded guilty Oct. 5 during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore. Camp was initially charged by criminal complaint in January 2008 with encouraging Juan Leonardo Quintero-Perez to unlawfully enter the United States and with harboring him.

Quintero-Perez was convicted by the State of Texas of the capital murder of HPD Officer Rodney Johnson. In September 2006, HPD Officer Johnson pulled over Quintero-Perez while he was driving one of Camp's work vehicles. Quintero-Perez was subsequently arrested for failing to provide a driver's license, handcuffed and placed into the HPD patrol car. Quintero-Perez shot and killed Johnson from the back seat of the patrol car with a gun he had hidden. He is currently serving a life sentence.

According to court documents, Camp helped Quintero-Perez remain in the United States despite the fact that he was charged in 1998 with the state felony offense of indecency with a child. When Quintero-Perez was arrested in 1998, he identified Camp as his employer and Camp posted a $10,000 bond on Quintero-Perez's behalf. Quintero-Perez was convicted and sentenced to probation. Thereafter, he was deported by federal authorities, but illegally reentered the United States in 1999. After Quintero unlawfully returned to the United States, Camp provided him with a job and residence.

ICE Special Agent in Charge Robert Rutt said, "ICE, using our law enforcement authorities and working with the U.S. Attorney's Office, was able to bring this employer to justice. "This tragedy illustrates that hiring illegal aliens is not a victimless crime. "Too often those in the U.S. illegally are desperate to avoid law enforcement and take desperate actions which can turn tragic."

Camp faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing on Feb 1. He has been permitted to remain on bond pending that hearing.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jay Hileman and Ryan D. McConnell are prosecuting this case.

    -- ICE --

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was established in March 2003 as the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security. ICE is comprised of five integrated divisions that form a 21st century law enforcement agency with broad responsibilities for a number of key homeland security priorities.

Another ILLEGAL ALIEN MURDERER. I guess Mr. Camp of Camp Lanscaping couldnt find an American anywhere to hire, or anyone that would accept slave wages with no benefits to work for him. Idiot. I hope he gets the 5 years.

i found Jay Hileman at the US Attorney Office in South Texas
and he actually took the time to explain things. it seems that the most punishment this case could get is probation and that they are asking for the other stuff.
He referenced me to the Shipley Donut case in houston as well where the company was fined and the owner put on probation as well.
He understood where i was coming from when I said the three months was not enough. He explained that the harboring of the illegal consisted of everything from sending money to the illegal in mexico, the plane ticket and the house were all considered harboring

"Camp faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine but prosecutors Jay Hileman and Ryan D. McConnell have suggested in a plea bargain that he be sentenced to three months in prison, three months home confinement and five years probation. "

If probation is the most Robert Camp can receive why did the source article state he faces up to 5 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine?

HEAVY FINES and FELONY JAIL time for ALL the ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS!

This is really getting old, it is not as if Robert Camp did not realize he was assisting an ILLEGAL! This is just wrong! If the ILLEGAL was not in TEXAS then the Police Officer would be alive. Robert Camp furnish the "weapon" of murder, his ILLEGAL! If he had furnished an illegal weapon Robert Camp would have received Felony Jail Time!

It doesn’t seem to matter if it is Police Officer in Houston attempting to safe guard his city, a high school student in Los Angeles standing in front of his home while his mother is half way around the world defending her/our country, or a father and his sons in San Francisco driving home all became targets of ILLEGALS and were murdered because of the greed of "our" Elitist Politicians and their Elitist Contributors in search of "cheap labor" to help their "bottom line"!

Our FAMILIES are at the mercy of ILLEGALS and their Anchors being murdered, raped, infected with disease, or robbed. We can see the results of the ILLEGAL invasion in our courts every day! But NOT to worry the Chamber of Commerce will get their cheap labor increasing their privatized PROFITS while socializing the benefits for their ILLEGALS on the back of U. S. Citizens, thanks to our past and current Presidents, the Congressional Leadership(?), and local elected and appointed officials!

P.S. Houston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are all SANCTUARY Cities!
